Hi,

Have a look here:

http://hotels.thailand-uk.com/isan.php

If you stay in the Khao Yai area between Monday and Thursday you'll probably get a good rate in the resort hotels. These hotels are fully booked at the weekends with people from Bangkok but empty mid week. The scenery in the park is beautiful and it’s about an hour from Korat.

If you going to Khon Kaen from Korat I would also suggest that you make a stop in Phimai and visit Prasat Hin Phimai and have lunch at Sai Ngam. (but I'm a bit biased...)

hi Clive i can recommend cabbages and condoms resort saptai 30 min from khao yai www.cabbagesandcondoms.co.th/ right hand side of page is link for saptai resort rooms about bt 1000, very clean modern rooms , very quiet except some weekends when have some tours ( coaches ) mainly thai's for meetings or learning , exelent swimming pool , good food , allways had a good experiance there
your own transport is advisable because of rural location

Intrigued by that hotel name I checked the resort website and see, "The Cabbages and Condoms restaurant offers a unique experience."
I bet it does! Possibly a bit of a mouth-full for the unwary.

hi tudor & pim , luckily i knew about c&c before and why they named there resorts this so for the unwary

They were set up to provide finacial surport for Thailand,s non govement based, rural development ,educationand scholarships, HIV/AIDS education and environmental protection , so when staying at any one of there resorts any money spent contributes to this, more can be read at the bottom of there main page
