We just got back from a trip to Thailand.
I recommend the Kata Sea Breeze Hotel in Phuket.
It was very good value for money (we paid about 2500 Baht per night for 2 adults and 2 kids in a large family room), decent location (5 mins walk to beach), and the nicer ground floor rooms had a balcony with steps straight into the pool, which the kids loved.
The only slight downside was that the staff seemed pretty disinterested - but the service was OK.

We stayed in the Karon Beach Resort 7000 BHT a night great location right on the beach ,good buffet for breakfast, downside hotel was full of Germans who were insistent on waking each other up at 6am and everybody else within range, not to mention the towels by the pool I thought people were joking about that ,they weren’t.
