Off to London next week for a couple of days.... Thai Embassey, see a show, shopping etc...

But we've got an afternoon spare and not sure what to do / see.... done most of the usual stuff before, London Eye, Buckingham Palace etc. Any suggestions welcome Angel

We're staying here and after our visit to The Thai Embassey at 10:30 we have got the afternoon free. need to be back at hotel by 17:30ish

Sy,

Think it depends what you are into..could try an art museum, Tate Modern for example or maybe go to a farmers market, Bourgh Market at London Bridge is pretty good although thinking about it not sure what days it on, portobello makrket or camben...again check the days

We went the aquarium to watch shark feeding time which was agood laugh or you could try more conventional paces like Madame tassauds, Tower Bridge, the Dungeons etc

Have you considered visiting Greenwich village on the way back to the hotel? You could take the Thames Clipper river boat from Tower Bridge in central London to Greenwich. (We drove to Greenwich and parked in the car park right beside the fire-damaged Cutty Sark, so I'm not sure where the river boat pier is located.)

If you get some fine weather, there's a lovely walk up a grassy hill to the Royal Observatory where you can see the famous Meridian Line. They shut the gate at 5pm, as far as I remember, so get there in time to take the obligitory photo of Su standing with a leg each side of the line! Buy some sandwiches in M&S and you can have a little picnic on the grass near the top of the hill while enjoying some spectacular views, or wait to you get back to the village and pick up some traditional fish and chips in the chipper! There are some benches in the area beside the Cutty Sark where you can sit and eat your food.

If you're not in a rush back home, then the O2 Arena has some great bars and restaurants. You might even have time for a show! They were still renovating the place when we visited, so we just took a walk along the outside. It's supposed to be fantastic, though.

We bought a sight-seeing tour ticket with the coach at London Bridge last year. I was quite good cause the ticket valid 24 hours and the coach with the guide (English speaking of course) takes you around london and you can stop wherever you want, spend time as long as you want and catch any of their coach again when you want to move to other area just show the ticket. So if you buy today at 1 pm you can use that again tomorrow till to 12.59 pm plus free boat trip included in the ticket but you have to be careful to check the time table of this free boat trip cos last time we just missed only 5 minutes and you can only use on the day you purchase the ticket for the free boat trip.

If i am not wrong the ticket costs £20 each but because at that time we didn't really want to buy it so the salesman gave us £4 off. May be you can use this trick to negociate with the price Wink

Good luck and have a nice trip ! We will be going soon as well cos my passport will be expired in the early of Sept.

If you fancy something different from all of the usual tourist attractions how about spending the afternon at Oriental City Su can get some ingredients that may be hard to get in the West Country and you can both have a nice lunch.
