Just wonder if anyone been to LA and stayed in a reasonable hotel that could recommend us. Ideally we would love to be in West Hollywood and the budget is around $200 a night.

Any advise or recommend apreciated.

we have chose West Hollywood as we understand it was a better area and near things to see, attractions. We are only there for 3 nights then we head off to Las vegas.

We have found the Omni Hotel for £75 a night in LA not West Hollywood as West Hollywood seems expensive. We will have a car so within that sort of area would be fine.

Hi Martin, Glad to help, but my advise too you is dont stay in hollywood or downtown LA its not too safe, West Hollywood is a large gay area by the way, I would head for the beach area mainly white and a lot safer, Santa Monica is a good place english pubs ect but not cheap has a great beach, but my number one choice would be Manhattan beach a very clean and safe place as you come out of lax airport just head south for 4 miles approx sepulveda blvd (not on the freeway!) and you will come to manhattan beach just before Hermosa beach hotels cheaper than Santa Monica, one more thing if you have a free day go to Venice beach on the broadwalk you will love it take care have a great time Mike

LA is a huge area, where are you planning to visit/see? $200 is not a lot in LA so if you are looking for something rather pleasant you will need to stay a fair way from the Downtown and resort areas.

If you don't mind driving for an hour or so to reach the tourist areas you might do well on $200 per night.

LA is a particular favourite of mine, I have several friends there, but it is very easy to stay in the wrong place!
