I am off on my Travels again and thinking about China, I see that there is a flight with Thai Airways from Bangkok to Chengdu. Has anybody spent anytime there or know any useful information on Hotels or nightlife?

Very nice city. Spent a couple of days there last year.
Lots of sites to see but I thought it was a little 'false'.
Night life is restricted to the 'what the tourists are allowed to see'. Although vast, it what we would call here a 'new town'

It is though becoming a bit of a 'Hub' rather than going through the usual HK etc.

Check out the world's strongest man on channel 5 all this week about 7pm, that's being staged there. Obviously you have to watch a bunch of sweaty guys lifting really heavy weights (that might be a bonus if you're a woman ) but they do show some nice parts of the city sometimes too
