Any suggestions? I normally stay at the Manhattan which is about 1,500 Baht per night but is getting a bit tired I think.

I prefer Sukhumvit area as I used to live there and I like the skytrain, plus have a friend who runs some bars around there. Anything within walking distance of Sukhumvit up to, say, Soi 22, with clean rooms at low prices (oh yes, and suitable for my son, so no pay by the hour "number" hotels please!)

Cheers

Ian

Before staying at my girlfriends place for the last two years I used so stay at the Swiss Park on Soi 6 which was ideal, nicely located and not to expensive. Quiet hotel with a swimming pool and I would stay there again.

My mate is visiting Thailand soon and I have recommeded this to him and he is staying there.

Ian, I would highly recommend The Royal Benja and the end of soi 3. Very palatial interior, v.good breakfast, and decent sized rooms. When we stayed we got 2 x 6ft beds inc breakfast for 2 adults and 2 children at a room rate of 1700 Baht per night. Only suggestions would be to insist on a room near noisy lifts.
have a nice time

Id rather be in the area that you are referring to and have stayed on soi5 many times (but not the Benji), but this time, we're staying here for a couple of nights:

http://www.r24.org/hotels.thailand-uk.com/bangkok/thebedrooms/pictures/

It looks pretty good although it's on soi77 and importantly for Ooy, right next to a huge carrefour and around the corner from a big Tesco Lotus - for family goodies and the like - bliss Frowner. The saving grace being that its around the corner from On Nut station.

At the end of April we have a couple of nights at the Manhatten, so I'll let you know how it is! I've never been there, but it still gets favourable reviews.

The Bedrooms is the kind of place I was thinking of - but Soi 77 is a long way down.

I have never had a problem with the Manhattan, but I have read some poor reviews recently.

I used to put up the visiting foreign contractors in the grand president on soi 11. Close to everything and decent rates as well.

Terry & Bun,

Can't remember the name of the suite, but had family with us and we booked 2. Looking up the Soi from Suk.. Road we booked in the reception on the right hand side of the Soi and were in a block on the left hand side of the Soi. We had a private entrance lobby with lots of seating (ideal for family Som Tam & extras meal) and the suites were off to the left and right of the lobby. All very modern, smart and luxurious. Can't remember the price, but I wouldn't have paid a lot Angel

Just got back from my trip to LOS and used CitiChic hotel on Soi 13. It is a long way down at the end of Soi 13 but they have a hotel Tuk Tuk to take you to the main road - and plenty of taxis around too. We found it exceptionally good for the price of 2200 baht per night inc breakfast. The flat screen tv was ace and really nice design touches!

Small hotel but really friendly and worth a try IMHO.

A bad day's fishing is still better than a good day at work.

I quite like the idea of 2 bedroom suite in GPA, but neither the booking page nor their own website say how much this would be. Anyone know?

Citichic sounds good.

Thanks for all the advice guys. Looks like a choice between GPA, Citichic, and Royal Benja. I like the sound of Royal Benja, especially as I will be with my son Benja . . min!

My favourite is the Zenith. Lots of arabs and american women with their whole head bandaged after plastic surgery. Empty cabaret room and opposite the worst hotel in BKK. Road is impossible to cross.
The coffee shop is great and always empty the food is wonderful especially the bacon at breakfast which no one but me eats....too fatty for the post liposuction yankee ladies and not sheep for the Arabs and so left by everyone else. Suites are lovely and spacious and its plush and has a certain something that makes me keep going back.
