Hi there

A very quick question.
Is it possible for a Thai/Thai+British national to claim a tourist VAT refund for purchases made in Thailand while on holiday, given one has permanent residence in the UK or has British citizenship?

Thank you!!
Ek

Hi Ek,

It can be done but make sure you enter on your British passport if you are a dual-national.
Some useful info here

On my last trip, I noticed places like Siam Paragon have their own VAT reclaim desks.

Happy shopping!

To be honest, unless you spend a small fortune, its not worth it. Stood in q's for ages. All the wifes fault. Didnt even cover the departure tax for the four of us and while I was waitng, the wife and kids had spent more entertaining themseves.

Judging others before you have met is'nt a wise option.
