Hello
I find it strange hotels are scarce near this Airport, one would think the major players would capitalise on the lack of rooms. How long is the road journey now to Bangkok city compared to Don Muang. Peter |

Its not strange Toxin mis forcing the opening of this airport before the election even though there are real concerns that it should wait and be tested properly. Give you an example IATA have a set of guidelines of what is needed to open an airport. Japan Malaysia and Hong Kong have followed these guidelines and successfully opened there airports. Thailand had to be different and also They have been building this airport for over 10 years and the project has been running for nearly 30 years and the hotels have been cautious so they dont build a hotel and then wait 5 years for the airport to open. Could be 18-24 months before there are any decent hotels near the airport

Estimate for a trip to Sukumvit or Silom varies but most agree that leaving the airport will be bad news around late afternoon/rush hour. 2-3 hours at that time is a reasonable figure as Bang na is already chaotic most of the day.
