Hi. Although Pattaya has been my main destination for many trips, I think it is time to try Phuket for a change. Patong beach (or maybe Karon) is where I plan to end up, but I am looking for some info before hand.
I have been told that Bangla road is the main place for nightlife. Is this similar to Walking street in Pattaya?
Personally I am not a fan of Walking street and much prefer the Soi Diana area, so would be interested in a place similar to this in Patong. Any suggestions?
Also, how big is Patong? Is all the nightlife in one area? Or like Pattaya can you find bars/restaurants all over the place?
Finally, any suggestions on a reasonably priced hotel (maybe around 800 baht) with a selection of bars, restaurants etc. on the doorstep?

Just my two pence worth on Phuket, you are right in Patong, and Bangla Road being the main area for Nightlife. The area is similar to Walking Street, but more families than just old guys walking around

There are loads of bars and restuarants dotted around, a lot of nice hotels, bars, restuarants on the sea front, which leads off Bangla Road.

There are some good bars there, and clubs, but it's not so in your face as Walking Street.

For hotels, cheap, I totally recommend the C&N Hotel, which is very reasonabily priced, clean, and good service, and 1 minute walk from Bangla Road.

we go to phuket every year as over post have said , bangla road is the main area but bars are all over the place. it has more familys there and not as in your face.
me and my wife go to a cpl of hotels, we mainly use coconut village*15 mins from bangla road* and ex pat *30 secs from bangla road*

hi greg the best way is when you book hotel use pick up service. with that web site i linked you to. the other option is get mobed outside the airport.....or use airport limo service inside airport..hope this helps a bit tiny
