Cheap way to call Thailand from UK.

Recently we have been using cards from here:- http://www.idtcalls.com/uk/phone-cards/. currently the cheapest one offers 2500 mins for £5.00 to Thai landline or mobile. It works by you having a pin number and calling a toll free UK number (eg 0800 number) from a landline. Can also be used on your free allowance of mobile minutes calling a local access no.

The call quality is fine ands so far no problems used up 2 cards already.

Hi Lucky
I read with interest the 2,500 minutes for 5 pound sterling, but every time i use a similar card, when i read my phone bill i always get charged hidden extras for the initial connection - do you have the same problem ?
Also is the .20p the initial connection fee for each phone call you make?
any help would be appreciated as i am spending huge amaounts on uk - thai phonecalls

Have a look at Localphone, its 1.1p per minute and I use it from my mobile so it is included in the free minutes I get.

My wife uses it from home and as we have unlimited calls any time with SKY for £5 a month then those are "free" too

so she calls during the day and as long as she hangs up and re-dials before an hour is up there is no additional cost.

and the £1.50 to top up.

It did look good Red but on SKY that 0808 number will cost me 10.21ppm, with a max connection fee of 11p (as i am on the unlimited I think this would be waived). And on my mobile 0808 numbers are premium rate.

I have recently signed up to localphone. I have to say it's excellent. Before I used 18185 but had to be at home using the landline to call Thailand. Now I can call from my mobile while in the car, nice and easy with quick connection and good signal. Also easy to send text messages from my laptop.

Wolfy. why couldn't you use 18185 on your mobile? We do.

I use 18185 from my mobile & landline too. To use from your mobile you just register your mobile no. to your 18185 account, then for cheap calls you dial 0208 1802828 wait for the prompt then the thai number. Its about 2p per min from my mobile and 1.5p from my landline

whats a resonable number to use as a cheap prefix without signing up or joining anything?, there used to be a lot. Only here for a month so don't not really worth signing up for services. From a virgin PAYG mobile this is.

If your phones unlocked you could get a Lebara sim 6p per min to call a mobile in LOS. I got one online for free, I'm sure you buy them in shops now.

I only use it from home as my mobile is a company phone and wasn't sure if there would be any hidden extras on our 02 bill.

Now with localphone i dial a UK STD code and number so no problem.

Does anyone find Skype and the Lebara PAYG sim card expensive to Telephone your friends in Thailand from the UK

I will always recomend This "I know tobias you had problems" but for me they are the best as can be used with your mobile using your minutes on contract plus you can get an app, so as long as you have wifi or included web allowance it's great!!

I also have skype package for thailand £3.50 amonth but they have stopped people now from what i hear getting it at that price.

Hi All.... i use 3 international sim card £15 for 3000 minutes mobile to mobile but you do need to have a three mobile
phone account to use it, it's a monthly contract/ Direct debit which can be cancelled.If i do run out i could use two sim cards though 3000 is normally enough for me but three do have an access number 290329 at 3p a minute on my mobile
no connection charges with either of these. but you have to be aware not to press the mobile green button
again after you've dialed the international code or you could be charged at the usual high Band rate.
