Google earth

Does anyone know how old the images on Google Earth are?

We were looking for our house in Kalasin on the above mentioned (was built in 2007) but nothing there, also various other building haven't been built (and some were done in 2005/6).

Chris, if you look in the bottom left corner, you will find the date when that the image for that particular part of the globe was captured. It's not always there for every single sq.m of the planet, but it can throw some light. Also if you click on the "clock" symbol on the toolbar, you'll get a sliding scale which you can use to adjust the date of the image your looking at. It goes back about 6 years so it's quite useful for looking at what was there before. The two example below are of where I am in Pattaya, today and six years ago when the house was built. I spend too much time on Google Earth - it's very addictive. The flight simulator is great fun, you can fly around your neighbourhood at 200 feet off the ground in an F-16 at Mach 2 in semi-3D.!

I use PointAsia instead of GoogleEarth for our area of Thailand, it has later detail and can see our house quite clearly in the sticks. A lot of It is in Thai, but I have found it manageable to use and locate lots of sites around Udon Thani :-)

An ariel shot of my house has a camper home on the driveway & my old Passat in front of the house so that makes it almost 5 years old. The street view is just over a year ago.

Mine just has a nice new-looking tarmac driveway - so it must have been taken within 2 weeks of "RomanyDriveJobs 'R Us" calling round with an unexpected surplus from a local council job they happened to be doing in the neighbourhood.
