visa requirements for turkey

please could some one confirm what i need to do for 14 day tourist visit to turkey.
i am a uk citizen and have been to turkey many times , i know that one has to pay £10 on arrival and the turkish immigration then put a visa/stamp into your passport and job done .
my wife is thai and has a ilr settlement visa i have conflicting reports that she needs to get a visa through the turkish embassy which can take up to 8 weeks for her passport to be returned with visa stamp in passport.
and i have also been told that all she needs to do is pay £10 on arrival in turkey and that she has the same status as me as she is my spouse etc .

According to the Turkish Consulate London website a Thai citizen

needs to apply to this Consulate General to obtain tourist visa. Your application is going to be referred to the relevant Turkish authorities for their approval which generally takes minimum six to eight weeks to finalize.

I can't see that it mentions exceptions for Thais with a UK visa.

If you are not a British passport holder; yet you have a travel document (not Certificate of Identity) issued by the Home Office of the UK, you need to obtain visa before traveling to Turkey. For more information on what a travel document issued by the UK is and upon what basis it can be issued, please see �http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk�

i really do not think she can get a £10 visa on arrival in turkey.
also i have just recieved an email from turkish consulate stating that my wife needs to go to get visa from embassy so i am going down the turkish embassy route.

If you are doing a package deal with someone like Thomas Cook ,Then they will be able to advise you

We are going to Turkey next month and have been told ( by Prince Visa Service ) that if my wife has a Schengen visa she can enter has the wife of a eu member. so we have paid the fee and had a 2 Schengen year visa in 1 week, but now I just need to find some confimation of above

Why did you pay a fee ? Schengen visa's for spouses of EU citizens are free.

Prince Visa Service are a subsiduary of just visas whose website seems to be in Latin.

The Turkish MFA site suggests that Thai Nationals require a visa prior to travel and insinuate that this can take 6 to 8 weeks to process so if you're planning atrip next month I would get your skates on.

Both the websites look well iffy and although there was some evidence to suggest that Africans and Indians with some other visas e.g. B1/B2 american might get a visa on arrival I would not be risking a vacation on that basis. The only route into Turkey without a visa is a concession for cruise passengers who can go ashore for max 72 hours subject to local security checks.

Why?

Thai's need visa's for most places that are not ASEAN apart from the odd one or two i.e. Gibraltar/Switzerland I believe (probably wrong)

Maybe some folk are getting confused with Northern Cyprus (Turkish controlled) where Thai's do not need a visa in advance.
