Default opinions please Eva air or Thai air ??

i am about to book for a 3 holiday in febuary in khon kaen .
the flights costs at the moment is approx £600 return to bangkok with eva air , and £600 using thai air.
thai air will still only charge me £600 for a return flight to khon kaen all included .
should i wait a couple of months to see if cost of flights will go down ??, or is this a good price.
i have always preferred eva air over thai air in the last 5 years
but has thai air planes been updated and would it be worth me using them for the price to khon kaen ?
    thank you
    graham

I booked two weeks ago, graham, and would have preferred EVA, but the price was prohibitive.

So, I booked two tickets on TG for £600 each, departing 20 January.

Subsequently this was posted by gwhiteuk:

I'm hoping the new seats will be fitted by then, deland, but will have to wait and see as the timetable doesn't always run to schedule. And seeing as we go on the 1150h day flight, it would make for a slightly more interesting flight.

thank you every one for your quick replies
after reading your replies i feel that i will book with thai tomorrow.
the reason is that the cost of 2 x return tickets from Bangkok to khon kaen costs approx £180.
and the total cost of flight from London to khon kaen cost £600 , there for a saving of £180 .
fingers crossed for an updated plane on our flight from london .
do you think it would be wise to book now or wait.
    thank you

I always book late, i've booked tickets before sometimes 1-2 days before going and saved money, but that one really is up to you!!

Remember February is still high season, Graham, therefore you really won't get much cheaper than £600 for a direct.

Personally, I would just book it and have done with it.

Link who quoted you £600 with Thai. West east wanted £699 to Udon last week for Feb. Nearly booked but had second thoughts on price.

As all on here would expect of me I say go TG and book now as you don't know what will happen to the prices never mind the UK tax i.e. I have a TG flight leaving 29/10/2011 and the flight is £230.00 + tax = £567.00.

I used to do this trip several times a year and my preference was always Thai purely because of the very generous air mile rewards and the extra ten kg allowance with silver rop cards. From memory on the EVA scheme I had to have 100, 000 air miles for a free return flight to BKK and no extra luggage allowance. Thai used to be 65, 000 for a free return ticket and I think is 70, 000 now.

On the rare occasions when I used EVA I found their new aeroplanes (triple sevens) very nice with very good entertainment systems. Their crews are very nice and they would always be my second choice for the trip, but purely because of the air reward and extra allowances.

However I have always liked TG's big old lazy 747 even if they don't have state of the entertainment systems or particularly new movies, in fact I am sure I saw Zulu on my last trip, Michael Caine my have you aged !

Melnathan, I booked through Southall Travel. Though, just changing the day of the week you go can make a huge difference.

TG if you are into time travel and want to experience what airline service was like in the 1980's, Eva if you want the 21st century, TG are a sick joke when it comes to service.

Despite my criticism for ting tong airways............there is an upside in that those flying in from the provinces get to check in earlier and a better grab opportunity on the desirable seats
not good for those of us who only fly lon to bkk

Since 2002 I have only flown TG with many upgrades. Having worked myself into a frazzle at work before a good sleep is the only entertainment needed. Having had a gold card for many years and the use of the lounges and extra 20 kilo's its TG for me.

I flew Eva Air delux class once, basically economy plus. If you can afford it i would highly recommend it, very comfortable.

At the end of the day i think most airlines are basically the same when it comes to economy class standards
