Default British teacher fighting for his life after attack in Thailand

LOS seems so safe, so stories like this make their way to the headlines.

Can't believe some of the comments on there (below the story).

On the way, he stopped and got out of his car, although it is not known why. He was then beaten over the head before his attacker - who is believed to be a Westerner - drove off, leaving him for dead.
Hope they catch the attacker and there must be more info/witnesses if the above statement is correct.

There is always more to these stories and if it was a farang that did it there will be a reason like a Thai woman involved somewhere along the line plus it's Pattaya in the news again

missing the birth of his eight-month-old son Benjamin.
Poor mother, he must have weighed a fair bit.

No need to apologise, took me a few seconds to work out what the above meant though.

Dan, think it was the previous motorbike incident that caused the missing of the birth. Tragic series of events.

Though I think the hospitals there are not allowed to harvest your organs anymore if you run past the entrance.

It's got to be a westerner , thai's would never ever do anything like hit a foreigner over the head with anything , or steal , or lie , or sell drugs .

    Amazing thailand

Agree with you Colin ... Obviously more to this story ... I don't think it was just a random attack ....

I read the Pattaya one newspaper on-line ... Never a lot of joy in that paper ... Normally consists of traffic fatality's .. Body's washed up on the beach ... Sometimes minus the head !!! People committing suicide .... Either by jumping out of a high condo or hotel ... Or recently a guy shooting himself in the head at a target range ... All these are accompanied by photos or videos ... Drug busts ... Road rage shootings ... So not sure why you were surprised Linne ?

I have to say I'm surprised at the levity and unsubstantiated assumptions associated with this post. The incident happened not far from where I live and although I don't know the guy well, I've seen him at pool games in the local league. The location of incident is far from Pattaya centre, in a usually quiet suburban area. No one is sure of what happened; it may have been provoked, he might have been drunk, there might be a Thai woman involved, - who knows. Yes, he was irresponsible if he had insufficient insurance, but does that mean he deserves what has happened? The poor bloke is seriously ill in hospital and at the moment everything (including the police assessment of events) is speculation and serves no purpose.

I have'nt made any assumptions Phil , I was pointing out how often when anything goes wrong , the Thai police are quick to say that it must have been a foreigner that committed the offence , before they've actually established who done the deed.
Even when they round up the beggars off the streets , they never seem to be Thai's , always Burmese or from Laos or Vietnam.
I think what happened to this chap is really bad and wish him all the best in his recovery.

the teacher's medical insurance has yet to pay out and is unlikely to cover the full cost of his treatment.
Better find out who he is with and avoid them like the plague then.

Ah! no wonder they are baulking at paying out, perhaps they think he is trying to rip them off.
Adam Pickles, 40, is in a coma and needed emergency brain surgery after the attack, which occurred when he was driving home from a night out playing pool.
Mr Pickles had only just recovered from a motorbike crash that left him in a coma

Maybe he has hit the limit on his policy for medical traetment or maybe if he was under the influence or worse things than booze it will be a policy exclusion.
