I find it odd and strange that anyone would try to tell me I cannot be in love so quickly! Also that I go from bird to bird! how rude, do you call your wife / gf a bird?? my chickens are birds, certainly not my gf, she is a woman or lady.
I have looked at exactly 2 ladies in earnest, the one I quickly discovered was not for me, This one is for me.
If you read my posts you will see I have many negative; positive and neutral replies and I only have issues with a very small minority.
The personal ones such as The ones telling me I cannot be in love & i am an idiot(thats the very thinly disguised gist of the reply)
From bird to bird where did you get that from? the same place as I spent all my time in chachenso in bars with bar ladies I suppose, and yes i know chachenso is spelt incorrectly.
As for anyones agreement or approval I have not asked for it and certainly do not need it thanks very much.
Please understand I post on here warts and all as requested and for all those who enjoy the posts and respond anyway they like, but the vast majority here do not judge me or get personal they just offer their opinion for which I am gratefull, positive or not.
Please do not refer to my lady as a bird again nor have the audacity to tell me how long I need to know someone before I can love them. I have known grandad the same length of time and love him like my own blood, is that ok for you??
Please get your own life and mess that up with your negativity and rude comments. My BIRD and I are very happy thanks.

Thanks for the updates, shrek48, have to say I've really enjoyed the story of someone who's taken that decision to leave the UK, and plunge full steam into the Thai lifestyle I dare say it's something many of us (myself included!) have fantasised about doing at one point or another!

Having said that, I feel perhaps it was a bit unfair to react so strongly to some of the more cautious posters' comments - surely the whole point of a forum is to have debate, and for different people with different life experiences to have different opinions?

Personally I couldn't imagine a more boring forum where everybody had exactly the same opinion, and there was no discussion/debate!

Good luck anyway mate, and keep us updated!

Well said falcon. What can be percieved as 'negativity' is often people trying to help. It's not helping someone to just say 'that's great, carry on doing that and everything will be fine' when you have serious doubts about it.

Agree with your post Biff. A lot of posts are trying to offer advice .. I think back to the staring incident especially. So hopefully ash has realized the consequences of what might have happened had it gone further. However if you read through some of the posts on this thread you can't help but think they are a bit cruel, he seems to be constantly picked up on his spelling !! How many of us would be doing the same thing without spell check ?
Not just this thread, but others seem to question his teaching ability. If he was no good I'm sure the school would have shipped him out. But by the sounds of it it seems he is popular at the school, especially with the children.

But the one about his new girlfriend takes the biscuit ... Why ask about her ... Then just post real catty comments. The ex-pats here on the forum all have a different story to tell of how they ended up in Thailand. Some retired, some moved here for health reasons. I know one who has put his daughter in a school over here and she loves it. Some run a business here ... Some do manage to work here. Then you have the guys who want to be here ... But because of circumstances, can't. But I'm sure the wheels are in motion to make it happen one day. They are the guys who have my utmost respect ... The ones who are separated form wife's/partners. Not sure how you guys do it. There is a small group who for some reason like to pour cold water over living here, I think back to one post when the member said he was glad to be back in the UK because the air is fresher ? This guy lives in London ? Then there is tribal !!! He drives me crackers sometimes ... Some of his posts ? But like shrek the forum would be a little quite if we didn't have these characters posting on here.

I agree with most of that, and think most others would too, but I don't think that Shrek and the other posters who are getting a bit fed up (both here and on other threads) are objecting to people posting differing opinions. What Shrek seemed to be specifically referring to was more the kind of superior, sneering posts which some seem only too quick to resort to, and which no amount of 'smileys' can disguise as being well-intentioned banter (and I might not even JUST be talking about Prioritypress here). If that's not how they are intended then it may be worth mentioning that that is exactly how they come across, and that is NOT just my view.

Constructive criticism, fine, raising caution, fine, but just sniggering really brings nothing to any debate and will, as mentioned elsewhere, simply deter less thick-skinned people from posting.

GTG, and others...is it wrong to be somewhat cynical and not see everything through rose-tinted specs? Shrek is after all a relative newbie in LOS? GTG, I would have thought with all your years of experience of living in Thailand you'd be a bit more "realistic" about the possible dangers/mistakes???

And I'm sorry if you post "warts and all" you're going to get some responses you don't like....and some mickey taking!

Three or 4 weeks ago (if that) he had his "suay girl" or whatever he called her...now this one.

Old Shrek might be looking for love (like us all) but to jump from one "woman" to the next in a matter of weeks is not normal and reeks of desperation...

Whilst I agree I am cynical in the extreme...I am not the "snidey" so-and-so you make me out to be!

And personally I've made a good few mistakes over the years which cost me a lot of money and heartache and I don't like people making the same mistakes as me!

Well...he's getting hooked up with someone he barely knows and is spending money repairing motorbikes and building a chicken "empire" for them...

From afar...he look's like he's being taken for a ride

(NOTE - I said from afar - we can only judge but what Shrek writes. They might be the most wonderful individual's in the world!)

So what are the other disasters Shrek has had ?

None. Referring to "others people" in a generic way.
