Missis got the letter today giving her Ni number,just wondering do you still get the old school card?

I believe the NI cards were stopped sometime last year.

Yes, i was told they stopped last June. My wife got just the letter with her NI number in it so I rang and asked about the card. They said all they issue now is the number in a letter.

Dao has a card which could now be a collectors item and although born and bred here I have never received one

but it doesn't stop me being taxed

My wife received NI card about three-months after receiving her letter, but that was February or March last year. Give JobCentre Plus a ring and sure they'll give you a definitive answer.

Junior Tobias received a letter a few months back, just a few weeks before his 16th birthday, with details of his NINo - the letter said they no longer issue NI cards. I suspect therefore that this will be the case for immigrants who request a NINo.

Go into Jobcentre Plus and they will give you the details of where to apply. Takes about 2 weeks

When you ring job centre plus tell them your wife is going to look for a job and they will issue her with ni number.first time dil applied they woudnt give her one because she wasnt looking for work so rang again and spoke to someone else and said she was looking for a job and got ni no within 2 weeks.
