    Default NHS eligibility

I am taking my son to live in England early May.
I plan to leave him there.
Will he be able to register with a doctor immediately or is there a waiting period before he is eligible.
He has UK nationality, has never stayed in UK before.
I will be staying for 2 months before I return to work. I will be getting health insurance for myself. If he is not eligible for NHS then I will provide some insurance for him.

I could be wrong, but as far as I am aware, as soon as you set foot in the UK with the intention of permanently settlling in the UK, which I would imagine would have to be backed up by some evidence - Ctax, voters roll, bank acct etc, then they are entitled to full NHS treatment from the outset.

caller is correct, although you are unlikely to have to provide any evidence save for a UK passport.

Thanks for that. Lad intends to stay for a year or two, maybe longer. I am only there for 2 months so I need travel insurance.

Nope, a full UK passport (not overseas territories) with right of abode is sufficient.
