Default driving to heathrow ? only 15 more for diesel

ok It is only a thought . I am struggling to understand what the thieving swine is suggesting. Actually parking or entering the roads near the airport. Maybe following STN and LTN and charge for dropping folk off.

BHX have been doing it for a while as well. Seems to be standard practice these days.

New signs going up at T5 LHR yesterday.

Drop off only, pick up is a £40.00 fixed penalty plus another £50.00 if vehicle left unattended.

Pick up directs you into the short term car park, not sure of the charges.

on a serious note there is a notion that those using LHR are from the zones. Those of us who live outside the zones in my case Guildford suffer with very poor transport links.
I am happy that LHR suffered a defeat in the courts when the airport tried to levy the Elizabeth line for construction costs.

I wouldn't gloat too soon, MAN are also introducing a drop-off/pick-up fee. LPL introduced it yeas Gao - even taxias have to pay. Scandalous.

They have drop off / pick up charges @ LBA. There is a free for 1hr car park a short walk away though.

BOH have had drop off/pick up charges for a long time now. I go to SOU out of principle, even though it is further from home!

That's just it. Taxis don't pay. They charge it on to their customers!

I live 4 miles from Heathrow Terminal 1 and a black taxi is more than £20. A trip for three tourists into Central London can be £80. It is so lucrative the taxis queue up in a feeder system where they sometimes wait a couple of hours for a job.

I use a local mini cab company and it used to cost me a tenner a few years ago. On arrival I used to get them to pick me up from departures to bypass the parking fee. Back in March they wouldn’t do it and I had to pay the basic £3.80 car park taxi fee at arrivals. If you get stuck waiting at baggage claim the price of the car park jumps to £7.00 for up to an hour and £11.30 for up to 2 hours.

It's a disgrace but if you use other airports I wouldn’t gloat too much. You can guarantee it will be happening at an airport near you soon, if it hasn’t already started.

At Heathrow it's all about managing congestion. You used to get so many pre-booked taxi's and private hire cars waiting to collect their passengers, parking in the drop of zones. It was so bad that people actually trying to drop off had nowhere to stop.

The fee for the first half an hour in the CP is £3.80. If a customer has checked luggage I usually wait until 1/2 an hour after the flight has landed before entering the CP. Very rarely will a customer of mine pay more than the minimum for my parking expense.
If you're offended by any assistance I give, it says far more about you than it does me.

Reminds me of BKK. Those strange revolving turnstiles as you enter departures. Oh yes and the security
guards stopping you from arriving and travelling upstairs (to departures) on the moving walkways, Maybe it has changed.

Yes but at Birmingham you can use the train station for drop off and pick up due to the monorail for free. Parking is also very cheap here and it s quicker to get into the terminal than from most of the airport carparks
