    Default Finnair / Finair

Has anyone used Finair from LHR to BKK? . if so, are they a good airline to use?

We did some time ago they were really good but the red and yellow shirts delayed our return by about 3 weeks.

They were brilliant sorting out the issues as well

I used them a few years ago. The connection time at HEL for the BKK leg was (and still can be) tight! I made it to BKK but my baggage didn't. When I got to the baggage carousel at BKK, there was a member of the ground staff holding a large board with my name on it. I introduced myself and he told me that my baggage was still in Helsinki. I was given a prepaid Visa card as compensation and my baggage was delivered, as promised, to my hotel the next day.

That said, the inflight service was good on the LHR-HEL and HEL-BKK legs, and I was given an unexpected free upgrade to Business Class on the BKK-LHR return leg.

Quite short everything made it no problem going out (approx 1 hour)

Return we organised an overnight stayed the Hilton in Helsinki but was due to the transit arrangements to avoid BKK had to return via phuket

Used Finn many times from Man - Bkk as has the wife. Its not Emirates but its ok, normally a good price, when your just trying to get to Thailand to see family etc rather than the holiday of a lifetime then you just want to get there minimum fuss and short transit times. Finn is short possibly a little to short, I have had to run before now to make the connection and been the last person on the flight back to the UK, and had bag not make it home that day also, but they sort it.

I've been looking at flight prices from Bangkok next April and Finnair seem to be cheapest at about 15000 baht one way.About 2 hour connection time at Helsinki and good arrival time at Manchester.Never flown with Finnair so may give them a go.

Hi everyone, I have been looking into Finn Air too (great minds think alike eh?)!

Just wondering, has anyone booked a flight from BKK to Manchester recently?

The reviews online are a bit hit and miss, but their prices to Manchester Airport are some of the best at the moment.

I searched on several different sites and all of them had Finnair as second cheapest at 15000 baht.
Just searched Thai and for 24 April next year one way Bangkok to Manchester 27000 baht. Eva would not show to Manchester but to London was 26000 baht. I think, according to my maths, that those prices are slightly more than the 15000 that Finnair were showing.

I used them once about three months ago. Only thing I could find at last min.
The staff on board were rude, unhelpful and you have to pay for everything. Not a pleasant experience.
Still they were cheap and the service reflected this. Having so much choice, and not for very much more, I would go with the big boys.
    Maybe just my experience.
Judging others before you have met isn't a wise option.

I used them several years ago in business but the Heathrow Helsinki leg was on what I would call economy plus rather than a business class seat

I've just booked with Finn air, man - BKK, next april, for my wife and our 2 little ones. They were the cheapest
skyscanner found. one thing that I've not seen before, when booking, they charged for each seat on each leg, if you selected a preferred seat. would have been an extra £200 in total. is this Finn air, or the booking agent Opodo? Also, as the transfer time is a bit tight in Helsinki, anyone got any tips in finding the right gate for the onward flight?

I booked with Emirates for our last trip out, they also were charging for seat allocation. I did not pay as I always check in online 48 hours before departure, no charge. I guess if most passengers choose their seat when booking then you will be limited to preferred seats on departure. There was plenty of seats to choose from when I checked in, so I doubt many are paying the charge.

Certainly didn't pay for my seats with Eva for January. When you add up the extras, changing planes, tight changes Ill stick with either Thai or Eva

Marvinpie, I have flown that route a few times now as has the wife , I love it she hates it for the short turnaround time. I have noticed that they tend to delay the MAN flight if the Mrs is connecting my theory which I could be wrong about is that not having a Schengen then she is a problem for them if she misses the flight, given that the next flight is the following day. The last time I did it was 2 years ago and the BKK flight was delayed, cabin crew moved me forward just prior to landing and I was off with first class and running, got held up in immigration as they wanted to drug test me, so swabbed with some paper all over when I got through running again to make connection gate had just closed when got down there but they let me on. I was the last to board and my bag didn't make it till following day. In your advantage the airport is small think Greek island and you wont be far out. every time I have flown the connection was at the far end down the escalator and on the ground floor with bus out to aircraft.

some interesting feedback, thanks guys. I'll definitely try to check in online, presumably Finnair are set up for that. Sods law that the connecting gate will be at the far end of the terminal on another level. The Mrs won't be able to run with our 2 little ones. Nigel&panda, the theory about Schengen could work to our advantage, as my wife doesn't have one, but how would they know that in advance - do airlines check some sort of Schengen data base against passenger lists?
