Not a few many instances ie bolton at home workers were told not to have car flags on there own cars .
    http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/...n_for_workers/
But many councils are becoming clever now and using health and safety rules etc to remove the flag of st george ,or stop people displayng it .

Flags above a certain size or flown above a certain height must have permission to be flown, irrespective of which flag it is.

I cannot comment on the alleged incident regarding the Union Jack Jacket, bout there is no legal impediment to a licensee wearing one.

To be honest, I'm amazed that after all the cuts, any local authority has the staff available to go out and deal with such a trivial matter as flying a flag. If companies make an issue of this, then they deserve all the negative publicity they get.

I read that Weatherspoons in the run up to Brexit will stop selling Champagne (France) and German beer - lol! I don't know whether to laugh or cry!!!!

The overwhelming majority of Thais, both educated and uneducated have little knowledge of the world around them. They have zero knowledge of the Vietnam war or Cambodia. Many will tell you the capital of America is New York and they have never heard of Canberra.

A few years back Hitler's face was on the greeting sign to Pattaya under the wax works museum poster. Thais also sell Bin Laden masks next to Obama. They call black people by the original slave term still and call mixed race children (including my own) 'mixed-blood.'

The message here, as with the St. George's flag, is what intent is being carried with it? It's indeed foul and offensive at first glance but in all honesty it is done out of complete and utter unintentional ignorance.

Man City wrote their team name all over a Thai flag years ago and the Thai's went nuts. We had no idea why. To me it was pathetic that they couldn't see it wasn't done to offend anyone. This stems from the very same thing - unintentional ignorance.

It's too pathetic to even comment on. I bet it's widely ignored, especially in rural areas.

It’s also fake news. The Royal Mail have not banned English Flags, they've banned all flags and all insignia of any type beng displayed on Royal Mail vehicles.

Not really Tobias, it say's that in the article, as per the quote via the Post Office, same as elsewhere I have seen similar. It's only reported on and become an issue as it's the World Cup, which is just about the only time anyone is really interested in flying the English flag in such a way (with other large sporting events). They could have made an exemption for the World Cup!

The vans are not the drivers personal property so I personally don't have a problem with that.

True, and those beach photos always go down well with the UK members in January
