Terms & Conditions of Use
Membership Registrations from disposable email addresses and some web-based email addresses are not accepted by Thailand-UK for registration purposes.
Only one Membership Registration and ID ("Registration ID") is permitted for each individual. Community members activating and/or posting from multiple Registration ID's (without specific, written prior approval) will have their membership revoked and all existing (and any subsequent) Registration IDs suspended from the Community.
All requests for registration must be made using a valid email address. Your registration email address must be validated. A Community member may choose to hide this email address from other members if desired.
Your use of the Thailand-UK Website and Forums (“the Community”) constitutes your acceptance of the Thailand-UK Community Terms and Conditions of Use (“the TCU”) which appear below. The owners of the Thailand-UK Website and Forums (“the Website Owners”) reserve the right to change the TCU at anytime by posting such changes on the Community website. Your continued use of the Community after the amended TCU have been published on the Community website shall constitute your agreement to the modified TCU.
The Community forums are intended to be a family orientated arena. It is the Website Owners’ objective to promote an environment which nurtures community, a place where both Thai and British members together with their partners and families feel wholly at ease to fully participate and become involved in the Community, a place where all members shall expect to be treated with courtesy and respect. Whilst the Community is intended to be suitable for those who have attained at least the age of 13, the Website Owners do not warrant that all the information or messages found within the Community will be suitable for such an audience. Parental guidance is recommended.
The Community operates as is, as and when it is available. Whilst the Website Owners will use their reasonable endeavours to make the Community publicly available and kept up-to-date, they are under no obligation to do so.
Given the real-time nature of the Community, it is impossible for the Moderators and Administrators to constantly and/or instantly review messages which are posted in the Community forums to ensure they comply with the TCU; you acknowledge therefore that messages which infringe the TCU (or which may not be suitable for those aged 13 to 17) may be visible in the Community from time-to-time. If you see any message which you consider to be in breach of the TCU then such messages should be reported.
By your use of the Community you accept that any message posted in the Community forums by Community members (including those posted by the Administrators and Moderators) is that particular author’s own personal view, experience or opinion. Such views or opinions may not necessarily be those of the Website Owners nor any legal entity associated with the Community. The Website Owners are not able to confirm (or otherwise) the validity, veracity or the appropriateness of any information submitted by Community members (including information posted by the Community Administrators and Moderators). Whilst Community members may be more than willing to offer an opinion on legal or immigration matters, you understand that those offering such opinions may not necessarily be qualified legal or immigration advisers but individuals passing on their own opinion based on personal experience. Should you choose to rely or act upon any information, advice or opinion found or posted within the Community then you do so entirely at your own risk. You are strongly advised to seek independent professional advice before acting on any information, opinion or advice found within the Community. The Website Owners, Administrators and Moderators accept no responsibility or liability of whatsoever nature for information/messages posted within the Community.
By your use of the Community you agree to use the Community only for lawful purposes and in a manner which does not infringe the rights of, or which may restrict or inhibit the use and enjoyment of the Community, by any third party. You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or the Website Owners. If you post a message which contains a news item from an external source you must acknowledge that source and provide a link to it.
Any contribution you make to the Community (including those by Private Message (“PM”)) must be tasteful, responsible and respectful. In particular you agree not to post any messages which may be disruptive, offensive or abusive or which may (or is likely to) embarrass, offend or cause upset or annoyance to another Community member.
You agree that any contribution you make to the Community will be constructive, polite and not mean-spirited or posted with the intention of causing aggravation, annoyance or mischief or which may provoke or incite arguments between Community members.
You agree not to post any inappropriate content to the Community forums. Inappropriate content includes (but is not limited to) material which is false, misleading or inaccurate or which, in the sole opinion of a Moderator, may be deemed to be tormenting, harassing, defamatory, abusive, threatening, insulting, harmful, unlawful, obscene, profane, sexist, homophobic, racially motivated, xenophobic or which may otherwise be considered inappropriate or objectionable or of an “adult” nature. For the avoidance of doubt, material which may be considered to be of an “adult” nature includes (but is not limited to) language or content which may, in the sole opinion of a Moderator, appear smutty, lewd, vulgar, coarse, crude, seedy or which contains any sexual innuendo.
Thailand-UK's policy is to promote a diverse, multicultural Community that encourages harmony and inclusivity amongst Community members irrespective of creed, religion, race, colour, nationality, origin, gender identity or sexual orientation. Any contribution you make to the Community forums which is inconsistent with this policy will be considered inappropriate content and subject to Moderation.
Strong or foul language, causing the language filter to trigger, or attempting to circumvent the language filter are not permitted in the Community forums.
You agree not to post any message which contains information that was released to you privately, in confidence or by PM or which may breach the terms of any confidentiality or non-disclosure or similar agreement/undertaking.
In order to focus precious Thailand-UK.com resources, we will only allow immigration related questions that have a genuine Thailand connection.
You agree to post all messages in the Community in English or Thai. Writing entirely in capitals is regarded as shouting and may prompt post deletions. The use of abbreviated ‘txt’ language or ‘Pidgin English’ is discouraged and may also prompt post deletions.
The promotion of or linking to other websites or forums without the express consent of the Website Owners is prohibited and may prompt post deletions. Website links are not permitted in profile signatures without prior consent from the Community Administrators. Spam, multiple identical postings, non-paid-for advertisements/solicitations, chain letters and pyramid schemes are not permitted on this Community and may be removed.
You agree not to disparage, discredit, negatively depict or publicly criticise (whether maliciously or otherwise) the Community, the moderating policy or the Community Administrators and Moderators. If a Community Member wishes to make an observation or raise a concern about the Thailand-UK moderation policy they may do so by contacting the Moderation Team via Private Message.
Any message posted in the Community forums which, in the sole opinion of a Moderator, infringes any of the TCU will be subject to moderation and may be edited or deleted. Moderators are encouraged to advise Community members when a message they have posted has been moderated, however Moderators are not obliged to do so.
The Website Owners reserve the right (via their Administrators and Moderators) to issue warnings and/or temporarily/permanently suspend membership privileges to all or part of the Community if any of these TCU are infringed.
If you choose to make a donation to the Community to contribute to the costs of operating the Thailand-UK website and Community Forums, the Website Owners will grant you an ex-gratia 12 month Premium Membership as a gesture of appreciation. For the avoidance of doubt, by making a donation you are not purchasing a membership subscription of the Community but making a voluntary contribution toward the Community’s costs and expenses. As Premium Membership is not conditional upon payment of any fee, no refunds will be given under any circumstances.
Premium Membership will not confer upon you any special right or privilege and you will continue to be bound by all the provisions of these TCU without amendment. If you are granted Premium Membership you will have access to the exact same content as those who do not have Premium Membership; however you will be able to use certain additional software features which may be made available from time to time and which are found within the Community forums.
The Website Owners reserve the right (and at their absolute discretion) to vary or remove any of the features offered with Premium Memberships. Your ability to use any of the features maybe be suspended or removed if, in the opinion of a Moderator, you abuse any of the software features or if any of these TCU are infringed.
All content (including (but not limited to) artwork, custom typography, images, descriptions, wording and documentation) that has been created by or exclusively for the Community is copyrighted material owned or administered by the Website Owners. No part of the Community may be used or reproduced in any manner whatsoever or howsoever or transmitted in any form or by any means without the express prior written consent of the Website Owners.
You accept absolute and unconditional responsibility for the content of any message you choose to post in the Community. You shall at all times remain solely responsible and liable for any (or any potentially) harmful, libellous or other legally actionable comments or material you choose to post. By using the Community (and thereby agreeing to the TCU) you irrevocably agree that you shall indemnify and keep indemnified the Website Owners, their agents and Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. (the developers of vBulletin) from and against any and all claims or proceedings (either actual or threatened) in relation to your use of the Community including, but not limited to, any fines, award of damages, expenses, losses or liabilities suffered (whether criminal or civil) including legal fees and costs reasonably incurred by the Website Owners, their agents and Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. in defending or resisting any such claim or proceedings on a full indemnity basis arising from or in connection with any breach of the TCU or in defending any such legal (either actual or threatened) claim or proceeding.
In the event that any provision within the TCU shall be held to be invalid or unenforceable any such invalidity or unenforceability shall not affect the validity and enforceability of all remaining provisions. The TCU and the performance of all obligations hereunder shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and the parties hereby submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.
If these Terms and Conditions of Use are not accepted in full, your use of the Community must be terminated immediately.
