Hi,

I am new to this site and was wondering if anyone could recommend some thai language learning tools or systems? I have no knowledge of thai language or alphabet. There seems to be a lot of stuff available costing from nothing to over £100 for language learning software! I am keen to learn to speak and read thai but would you consider a 50 year old crazy to contemplate such a task!? Any information and encouragement would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

How about the Paiboon Publishing series of books/CDs?
"Thai For Beginners" by Benjawan Poomsan Becker is a good start along with the website posted by Spud. You will also find the forums here (http://www.thailandqa.com/forum/) a great help with any questions you may have.
