Keep your fingers crossed Steve, I've just come back from watching the footy in Soi 7 and there was a motorbike /kitchen combination flogging Knackwurst hotdogs. I tried one and spot on! A sort of peppery large pork snorker in a roll with onions for 90 Baht. It was lovely. It's the first time I've seen it. The trouble is with these excellent ideas, the local mafia that control who can sell what on their territory tend to exert a bit of influence if all the chicken-on-a-stick and other Thai food sellers kick up a stink because all the farangs go for the German hotdogs! Next week - no more Knackwurst.

Really? would you like to point me in the direction of some Thai singers that have 20 million hits on a video? I can't seem to find one but would like to see. Thanks

At the risk of flogging a dead horse...............

Please watch this video of Palmy as guest vocalist with Pongsit Khumpee... not an artist that you could accuse of being a typical Grammy artist.

Brian99, OK, I get that you don't understand Palmy. But why do you always make negative posts? (and I didn't even bother replying to your comment about Carabao on my website). In my opinion if it makes posts like a troll then it is a troll.

Can you not just put this in my favourite Thai music instead of starting a new thread in General whenever she makes a new video?

What the hell has Guava done to upset you lot.

He is long standing forum member with a great knowledge of Thailand, its culture and its language and he deserves some respect.

So you don't like some of the music he chooses. Well I don't like the constant references to !#$%!^* football on every bloody thread either but do you see me attack the poster for it. OK, not a good example, but you get what I mean.

    Dan,

I thought Dave and Tia's post was just being informative. Guava may not have realised there was a thread devoted to "My Favourite Thai Music".

By starting an individual thread, surely that is to encourage discussion, whether in agreement or disagreement. If Guava's intent was purely to promote this artist, whether for some personal reason, or not, then rough comes with smooth. I've questioned my wife(53 y.o.) and my stepson (30 y.o) and they do not hold Palmy in high regard.

I enjoyed the last clip of Palmy, a lot more than the initial kiddy pop one at the beginning, which I absolutely hated, and have an open mind about whether she is anything more than average.

I have the highest regard for Guava, but I think your post about him being disrespected is a little OTT.

And Guava, your response to 'Dave and Tia' appears a little OTT, also, IMHO.

Just my view, as an outsider looking in. I hope you don't mind me commenting.

    With respect, Dave.

So, Danny boy, where have I said I don't like his choice of music? All I suggest is that music videos should be put in the I like Thai music section.
However, as the highly respected very knowledgable member states, he can post anything anywhere he likes as long as forum rules aren't broken.
Maybe we should all post music videos in any section we like. Or post anything anywhere.Whats the point of having different sections such as entertainment, sport, visas etc?

Do I detect a lttle sarcasm there? Mai pen rai.

I posted in this section because Palmy walked away from the music industry at the height of her career as soon as her original contract with Grammy ended, I thought that her return was something that would be interesting to some forum members. Despite Dave's market research and poll of 2 Thai people, I find that many Thai friends both love and respect her. Over the years I have been lucky enough to have made friends within the Thai music industry and have never come accross anyone that has a bad thing to say about her.

Just to clarify - I do have a personal interest in this particular artist, but that will remain "personal"

Post where you like, the more of this sort of post the better. The (almost) 20 million hits is of course cham posted earlier

Several singers I know have had a break from the industry often to do a 'degree' not all make it back to where they where though. Don't think Eve has a sister Phetchy, her dad is Belgian and like a few other half falang singers her parents broke up. She was educated in Oz where her mum still lives and runs a restaurant I think. Palmy is quoted as saying she feels '110% Thai'.

Quite right people don't get upset when they say, for example, I hate phla ra in a thread on what Thai food do you hate, no one spits the dummy if you say Man U are less than good. But music somehow seems to be different, almost a personal insult if you say you think a singer is a dud, or that a certain style is junk music, strange.
