Default Update on MFA at Lak Si

    Hi All

thought i would start this thread, to keep updated on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in Lak Si.

Previous statements from them were that they were to open today 01st Nov.

I have tried contacting them but with no luck and the taxi say it is under water and closed.

Anyone got any info on it opening?

My wife tells me that it said on the TV earlier today that they are open today....however there is enough water on the road to prevent...as they say here...the small car cannot go.

Going out for lunch but not that way...so can't check...sorry.

This map and the descriptions below it, says "Authorities plan to move evacuees at the government's complex to higher floors as the waters on Chaeng Wattana Road continue to rise."

    I reckon it's a no go mate

Might be worth a trip down to Mo Chit BTS station, there are always a lot of taxis right outside the station who will know for sure if the road is passable or not (MFA's not far from there, straight down the road, about 100 baht fare)

I think your right, it has to be a no go, I can't see them opening when even cars can't get through. The motorbike taxis here said today they can't go and the water is about waist height

I love these maps!!! do they think that water runs in straight lines and wont cross a Klong or road. Water will find its own way. all ready being shown that it is coming up through the drains in many districts. Its the same when I did Chemical, Radiation, nuclear and biological attack training (NHS) these maps used to show borders that these substances apparently could not cross" DUH.

    Success!!

Today i thought i would chance it and find out for myself if the MFA were open. You wouldn't have thought it after they don't seem to be answering their telephones, but they are open.

They are only running the two day service, so no express, but thats better than nothing. I will be going back on Friday to pick the documents up.

As a guide for anyone else, I came from the Sirat Expressway toll road, the taxi could only go as far as the flyover by Tesco Lotus (picture above). I initially walked the distance from this flyover to the MFA but there is a bus service and military vehicles traveling through. From the Tesco flyover you can walk on a embankment in the center of the road which is a bit muddy but its better than wading. You will then come to another flyover which you can walk across to where the MFA building is on your right. The water is a bit deeper here about thigh height for someone 6ft, but as long as you've got shorts on and a plastic bag to keep valuables high and dry you shouldn't have a problem.

On the way back I caught a bus back up to the toll expressway.

Well done bb, after reading the efforts the staff are making to get to work, it makes me wonder if the same determination will be shown when, come January, the counter clerk at the Stanmore DHSS discovers that the 'wrong kind of snow' has prevented the arduous tube journey from Canons Park.

Ryan, YouTube are obviously not interested :-( "This video has been removed because it is too long."

Can you cut it into smaller chucks and post them all? Eat that YouTube ;-)

Youtube has a 10 minute maximum for ordinary accounts (there must be some other kind of accounts, because I've seen longer vids) so you will need to chop it into segments that are slightly less than 10 minutes

Presumably one of his valuables is higher than the other?

I've heard of the saying "I'd go through hell and high water" but never thought about it in a literal sense. I hope she appreciates the lengths you are going to to make it legal! When we went, that flyover was just as packed with cars - but at least they had drivers in them on that occasion.

    Well done.
