Admin Edit: Service no longer available

    Hi everyone.

My Thai step-son, Bank, is a fully licensed and insured taxi-meter owner-driver, based in Bangkok. Because of the recession, and general lack of tourists, he has been struggling a little bit for custom.

    I then had an idea!

Having spoken to him, asking what would be his best price for Airport to Pattaya, as an example, he would do it for 1200 baht, tips optional, for a pre-arranged pick-up, for T-UK members. His normal price for this journey is 1500 baht. Any other destination, I would sort out a preferential price. I will be happy to arrange this for anyone.

I would like to add at this point, I take no financial reward for this. It will actually cost me money in phone calls. I saw it as an opportunity to help him, and maybe help T-UK members at the same time. (Killing two birds..etc.) If I'm really lucky, in the future, my step-son may buy me a couple of Leos.

His taxi is a Toyota Altis, duel fuel car, and some luggage space is lost to the gas-tank, which is in the boot. More than 2 large suitcases may reduce seating space. "No Smoking" is allowed in the car, but he will gladly stop, periodically, if requested.

Excluding luggage, he can officially carry 4 adult passengers. One in the front, three in the back. For comfort, that figure should be reduced to allow for 'farang-sized' adults and any luggage.

If you need more information or are interested in placing a booking, please contact Bank directly on +66 (0)898866771 (Thai language preferred, limited English language).

MODERATOR NOTE: Please see Bangkok Taxi offer for T-UK members [2012] for more information.

Is he willing to do the normal run from swampy to Sukomvit area or just longer runs?

    Nokyai.

    Good question.

He will do airport transfers to any part of Thailand. He will also do Hotel pick-ups to same.

If you require his services, just send me a PM, and I will advise you of his 'preferential' prices to wherever you want.

Obviously his main use for T-UK members is Swampy(BKK) to 'wherever'. In my earlier post, I gave Pattaya, as a destination example only. He has already been used for that destination by T-UK members on numerous occasions, and also to Bangkok itself.

    Hope this helps. Dave.

    Thumbs up

I can recomend the service too, my family and I were very well looked after and all of our arrangements were as smooth as Silk! (Even when Thai airways flight was an hour late landing, Bank was still waiting for us with a smile and an England shirt!).

Your son-in-law Bank, is a credit to you Dave.

    Many thanks,

I'll quickly add that via Dave I used Bank - nice T-UK sign and England footie shirt at the ready - just remember his meeting point to the right as you exit customs is not the 1st one or two you come across. We have his number for when we eventually head back to Bkk. Very safe driver!

When i arrived Bank was waiting at Meeting point 3, This was not a problem, i came out by Gate 8 i think, turned right as i had been instructed to do and looked out for a Thai in a white England shirt holding a Thai-uk board, this took me past one meeting point but he wasn't at that one so i carried on to the next and, hey presto, there he was. No need for any worries at all, he was there as previously arranged and agreed.

I followed him outside where he asked me to wait while he went off to get the car, this took about 5 minutes or enough time for a Fag and a tin of Singha. No problem whatsoever.

A smooth and speedy journey down to Pattaya followed.

Thanks to all the above for their kind remarks. The thread was closed a while back after one member decided to post a rant about taxi drivers on the thread.

I would just like to say Bank (my stepson) has been doing many jobs for T-UK members, and the offer is still 'on the table'. Some members had said to me that they would like to have the opportunity to express their opinions of the service, but the thread has been closed.

Hence I have requested that it be opened again.

I would like to add that Bank has not altered his prices, and they are still exactly the same as when the thread was started, in July 2009.

As is said in the OP, if you should wish to use his services, please do it via PM to me.

    Many thanks, Dave.

Have used Bank a few times and He is a smashing lad, polite courteousness just like his Mother.
When we are overloaded with luggage Bank always manages (somehow) to get it all in the car.

It is also good to use Bank when you are sending your Mrs home for a holiday becasue you know that she will be in good hands and free from some of the more dubious taxi drivers.

Another good point when using Bank is that if there are any communication problems Dave is usually there to sort them out.

I used Bank last December and I thought the service I received was second to none, my plane into BKK was about an hour late but Bank was still waiting patiently in the spot where I was told he would be and I had to fight with him over who was going to wheel my luggage!!
    Thanks Dave & Bank

I used Bank’s services last month on a visit to Thailand.

As stated previously, a very reliable, prompt and patient service and the price is an absolute steal.

At the end of my holiday, having flown in to Bangkok from Laos, I required a taxi to Pattaya at very short notice. I spoke to several of the cab companies based at the airport. The first wanted 2600-3000 baht. The second wanted 2600 baht. I finally got a cab for the ”bargain” price of 2000 baht. This highlighted to me how much of a bargain Bank’s services are.

I highly recommend the service and will be using it again on any future trips to Thailand.

Thank you Bank, and thank you Dave

Theo, a normal taxi from BKK - Pattaya is 1200bt plus tolls. Any taxi will take you for that.

I think the excellence in this service is that the stepson of a member has gat reviews and gets work. He is reliable etc.

If you go outide the airport to the public taxi stand the price is 1200bt. Only those 'hawkers' inside charge inflated prices and they try to grab you before you get outside.

I'l be using Bank in October.
