Default Bryn's Chicken in the UK ?

Popped into my local Tesco Express this morning for a few bits and bobs and noticed a new line added to the chilled section. Now i would have thought there were enough Chickens in the UK without the need to import them from as far away as Thailand but there you go.

Marks and Spencers Chickens are from Southern Ireland my mother reliably informs me.

Anyway maybe this Thai Chicken comes to us from Tesco's via T-UK's Resident Chicken Tycoon Bryn (and Mot) ??

I didn't buy any. Even though a portion of the profit would probably go to Bryn i thought it was a bit pricey at £2 even allowing for the fact it contained Sodium Triphoshate and i would imagine that's quite expensive (?)

I bought some "Fresh" breast portions instead from co-op for £3.

ps..I think the woman stacking the shelves in Tesco thought i was some kind of weirdo taking photos of Chicken Portions. She gave me a right funny look.

The UK imports an awful lot of chicken from Thailand each year.

However, Wolfy, you may be onto something here. The clue is in the name 'Chunky' chicken from Bryn, who just happens to be a bit Chunky !!!!!
If you're offended by any assistance I give, it says far more about you than it does me.

Tesco's Everyday Value range is the cheap, poor quality mank, or not so cheap in this instance, that will end up with the same stigma as what it replaced, the Value range.

Could quite easily be some of our chicken from our farm. Our parent company, Saha farms have a contract to supply Tesco Lotus, and Tesco UK with fresh whole chicken along with wings breasts etc, also cooked chicken products too.

The sodium Triphosate is an E number for preserving shelf life I think, and isnt given to the birds through food or water, whilst alive, so can only assume it's administered at the proccessing factory

    poor quality
I am not sure what you mean by this, unless you are referring to the sodium triphosate, or the fact that it has been previously frozen?

    EDIT
I have just checked up and it's not to preserve shelf life, it is to retain moisture in the meat.
I don't know, but would presume most meats have the ST added?
    I'm there

The chickens from Bryn are easily recognisable, they are the ones wearing Trilbys.
