    If her English is good then no need for an ESOL course. At the Trinity site you can book an appointment for her to sit the b1exam, which Trinity call GESE (Graded Exams in Spoken English). They have test centres in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh.

    In short, no need to enrol at a college pay £780 for classes over a six month period assuming Entry level 2 to entry level 3. If the wife's English is decent then this B1 change in October is a right bonus.

    Tobias, you say pre july 2012 applicant's who have gained ILR status could apply for naturalisation 3 years from entry into UK, regardless of which visa they were on initially. post july 2012 applicant's are now subject to a 5 year qualifying period. providing the 450/90 day conditions in last 5 years are met, is the original visa type still not an issue, as long as the appplicant will have physically been in the uk exactly 5 years from receipt of naturalisation application?
