I will check tomorrow but when I bought some mid week it was only 3 for a fiver in my local ASDA.

The other day I noticed, but can't remember if it was in Tesco or Sainsbury's, that they are now doing 4 packs of the smaller bottles. Before then I'd only ever seen the large bottles on sale

Seems a bit of a random offer, they are still 3 for £5 in South Shields. Thought about trying to scan a few and see what happened but I'm not a great fan anyway, the size of the bottles is the main attraction!

However, I was pleased to see that the 4 for £5 offer on ALL bottled BEERS still applies so I stocked up with a nice 12-bottle selection. When buying beer to drink at home on these deals I do like to look for the strongest available, not because I want to get off me face particularly, but so I can reach the required level of mellowness with the minimum of consumption. There are some very nice 6.0%+ bottles in stock, Maximus, Bombardier Colonel's Choice and Shepherd Neame's 1698 among them.

In addition, Crabbies is also in the 4 for £5 - often £2+ per bottle, as is Grolsch so I got a few of those for any visiting lager drinkers. Some cracking bargains in the 'Still fresh ...' section too so we will be having a Chinese feast during the football tonight - £9 bag down to £3.48 plus some bonus crispy duck for an extra quid or so. Job's a good 'un.

I employ the same tactic GTG been choosing Leffe lately...

Will check out your recommendations although I'm not really an ale drinker, but one has to grow up sometime i guess .

    Shopping or drinking?

    - - - - - - - u p d a t e d - - - - - - -

Just a quick word for Morrisons who are doing Rosey Nosey (4.7%) for £1 a bottle at the moment - very pleasant - but don't be tempted by the same brewery's 'Christmas Eve' at the same price. Horrid.

    A mistake maybe?

4 big beers for £5...5 small beers for a £5?

If you like your ales, Hobgoblin and Old Bob are always worth a try, I find also when Asda stop doing the 4 for 5, Lidl start the same offer up...
