    Default School holiday Airfares !

Well bit the bullet today and booked mine and the little ones flight to LOS. Unfortunately because Angie is now in primary school I'm ham strung by the rip off airfares during the school holidays.

Anyway after having my card blocked by Barclays during the booking process and unblocked via their Indian call centre the deed is done.

Chose Emirates because 45mins ( Birmingham airport ) down the road plus we are both members of their frequent flyer programme. Booked directly on the Emirates site with no credit card charge and were able to choose seats for all four aircraft. The Bangkok legs inbound and out on the A380 which the little one likes after previous hols.

Now for the bitter pill : £915 for me £777 for Angie who is five. Dates are end of July into August . The upside is it'll be low season so will save on hotels and car hire.

Not possible in my position as I need to fit my time around her six week holiday break. Not that it did cross my mind.

Just out of curiosity did you request authorisation from the Head for time off during school time or just assume you couldn't?

I wouldn't have had a problem with the school they are very understanding but unfortunately due to circumstances I need to use my leave to coincide with my daughters holidays.

Pleasantly surprised this year at Emirates flight cost from Glasgow.
We have the school holidays that start tomorrow up here in Scotland. Can get adult at £545..........up until (what I think) is the English holiday period. Then ist up to Phils price.
I booked my boy out on the 16th July in Jan at a cost of £720 and just changed his out flight to next week.
Might just send the rest of the clan out............
Judging others before you have met isn't a wise option.

From someone who has worked in schools for the last 27 years my advice would be an illness just before the school holiday. No fine and cheaper airfare.
