    Default Thai Passport Application

Does anyone know if when we apply for a new passport for my wife-do they give you the details of the new passport to be picked up prior to actually picking it up?

ie issue number, expiry date, passport number?

asmith that seems a very strange question. I would think regardless of any country issuing a passport you wouldn't get that sort of information until it is issued. Jan's passport came back after 5 days by registered post so you will have the answers to your questions pretty quickly.

He's probably filling in a form for something and does not like blank boxes

Clearly in my case 5 days to wait for the information is not preferable or I would not have asked the question would I? If you don't know the answer to a question, better idea to not answer...or perhaps answer the ones from other members that are not deemed 'strange' to you

How is this clear from your OP?

Someone took time to pass on advice based on their experiences and you hit back with sarcasm

I suggest your wife applies for the passport tomorrow then you will have it sooner rather than later.
Alternatively you could join the mad dash at the Ministry in Bangkok and get it in a day. (Go early and queue)
My wife went to Udon Thani office and like Melnathan it took about 5 working days by post to get it back.
There's not much chance that you will get any information whilst applying this way as they take your wifes application papers and process them afterwards.
You may not want my advice but the guys on here are very helpful. We don't always have the correct answer but can point you in the right direction.
Most of us have been down the route your going. Good luck
