Default spouse visa application ..advice needed on obtaining a floor plan?

    hi there
my Thai girlfriend & i got married in Bangkok 3 months ago (October 2014)
I plan to return at the end of march were we will apply for the spouse settlement visa.

i am a council tenant & rent a 1 bedroom flat. if we are successful in getting the visa this is where we live.
i called my local council to see if they would send me a copy of my floor plan.
Speaking to them they didn't seem to understand or be particularly interested in what i wanted i was passed around a bit. & then they took my number & was told i would be called back.
i am still waiting for this call!

my local council do have floor plans of properties i seen one when i had some work done on the flat a couple of years ago.
if the council can't (or won't) provide a floor plan what are the alternatives?
i did i google search & found this site were you can build your own

    http://www.homestyler.com/designer

would it acceptable to make my own? or does it have to be official?

if not does anyone know how much one would cost?
    thanks in advance

I made my own just to give a idea of the layout and room sizes. I didn't even use a computer, literally just drew it out with ruler and labeled each room, bedroom 1, bedroom 2 etc.
