Default [Black Friday Cheap Flights?] Anyone Been Lucky Enough

Has anyone been lucky enough to get a real cheap flight to Bangkok on Black Friday?

We are going to Thailand next June, And done all the usual flight searches.
But with my luck if i booked the tickets today, the price would be reduced on Friday. lol

How much do you call a real cheap flight?
I have never been interested in any "Black Friday" so called deals.

I have been looking for flights from 21st July onwards, if anything comes up under £400 I will book.
There are flights for £380 mark for June with Emirates via Manchester.

You'll be lucky Greg.....school holidays. However, I've seen a few new(ish) players on the scene recently. Kuwait Air had some very good prices over the Christmas period (for example).

That is what I thought this year Phil, paid £1588.08 for three adults and one child for August.
Booked the flight with Emirates in late June flying out of Glasgow, to good of an offer to turn down, considering it was during school hols.

That was cheap. I'm hoping to go over during the Christmas/New Year break but I'm struggling.......Last year I arrived on 31st December and it took me 9.5 hours to drive home (the entire population of Isaan were heading home)......normally 2.5. I swore never again but its looking like the only time I can get a reasonably priced flight. Last night I could have had a flight for £634 on Etihad from Heathrow (at times that work with my travel to and from LHR). I couldn't book as there's no cash in my bank until tomorrow.......its gone now and alternatives are now a lot more expensive.

There are of course other airlines but I'm getting used to using Etihad's lounges..............free food, drink and a smoking room where you can breath clean air between drags!!! Still, it may be cheaper to pay for lounge access.

    I'll see what Wednesday brings.

Most of the Thais in our community have tended to fly with Etihad and Qatar, including me.
Emirates now is the preferred choice due to the cost, with Glasgow being the cheapest option.

I could book flights for around £1820 now for us for the summer holidays out of Glasgow, Manchester is about £400 more but with poor transit times. I would have to pay about £2500 roughly to fly out of Manchester to get 2/3 hours in transit each way.

For me, Glasgow is only about 20 miles further than driving to Manchester, no-brainer really.
Down side with Glasgow Phil, no smoking at all in the airport, not an option for you there mate.........

Greg Question How much do you call a real cheap flight?
    £350-£400 .
i am hoping i know. lol

I usually fly direct,But we are considering the 1 stop option to save a few pounds.
Have seen prices for £400 with both Emirates & Etihad flying out from London.

Very tempted to just book with one of these airlines now,but will wait until Friday to see if i can be lucky.
Its only a few days away.

Over the last few years, £380 to £450, pending when you fly.
When your booking 4 tickets and have to take into account school, then the difference is far more than a few pounds, but that means taking them out a week or more before school hols.

I have already booked for next year, long before this Black Friday lark. 1st May to 30 June, £368 with Oman with stopovers of about an hour each way.

I have never seen flights so cheap. This is the best I have had since I have been travelling to LOS every 6 months since Dec 99.

Not sure what particular dates you are after but last few weeks of June

Using this website, http://www.airlinehunter.co.uk/ it lays out the flight in a bar graph so you can easily see how long each flight and stopover is.

    22/6 to 20/7 £354 turkish airlines, £356 Oman air

A one way lhr/bkk one world staff (no profit) ticket with BA is £180, so the above fares can not get much cheaper

Word of warning using Turkish. I transited through Istanbul 3 times last year and 3 times my bag did not make the next flight. Last one i had a 4 hr layover en route to the Middle East. Should be better once the new airport opens (Well one can hope)

Thanks for that link Gary,I did try it but for some reason the search failed, maybe the servers are down.
    Will try later.

Kingy Turkish airlines was a option, but the Mrs is not so keen after that terrorist attack at Istanbul airport from this year.

Absloutely!!! I always think of Suvarnabhumi as a very considerate airport, having smoking rooms before immigration on the way in and close to the gates on the way out......either that or the architect was a smoker :-)

Anywhere North is not an option for me as my dog minder lives in Lincolnshire so I have one hell of a drive at both ends of my trip (2.5 hours down there then 3.25 on to Manchester). Yes I know I'm crazy taking them all that way but I just can't bear the look they used to give me when I used to drop them off at normal kennels. To be fair, the trip is getting so tiring that I've now agreed with the minder to leave my car at her place and get the train down to London - start using Heathrow again.

For others who may dither between Heathrow and Manchester, check out the total of all costs before making your decision. Should I have decided to drive down to Heathrow, the car parking for example, was twice as much as that available at Manchester.

In my opinion, Etihad have lost their edge and Emirates are better but I stick with Etihad because I enjoy several benefits from their guest rewards programme. Quite how the keep winning awards baffles me, their customer service is appalling. Flight staff great though....................and I've started getting upgrades

Concur with Greg there.....I travel 6 - 8 times per year and apart from Christmas time usually expect to pay around £400.

Well good luck with your hunt for Black Friday bargains Holty. I chickened out , my £634 flight is fully booked and the next best timing was £683 - and that's arriving on New Year's Eve!! I took it though , in reality......£6 - 700 is pretty much standard over the Christmas and New Year holidays. There were cheaper deals but the timings didn't work for me or the total duration was something crazy like 26 hours!!

Do you delete your cookies after you have looked? If you don't then they will always go up for the next time you look

Refer, Post #16 - can you explain how you activate or de-activate cookies (after looking at a site with cookies activated?).

Are you saying "activated" cookies leave a trace of your previous search? Why would your next search ALWAYS show an increase in price? Surely it should be current price that's available to anyone else?

Which web sites are you referring to?

Refer to Post 16 - can you explain in more detail please?

Easier way is to just put your browser in secret mode.

Yes, but now try to actually book at that price - especially over the Christmas/New Year break. Also, check the stopover times.
