Default Is there a time frame between getting a settlement visa and arrival in Uk.

Hi everyone, assuming we get our settlement visa, is there a time frame attached to my wifes arrival in the UK. We are trying to plan ahead and she will have to give the usual months notice for work/condo etc plus saying goodbye to family and friends. Does the visa start on arrival or immediately? And does she have to arrive inside a fixed period from receiving the visa. We are applying in January but ideally she wouldn't want to arrive until after April as she gets her annual bonus, which makes May the most likely time of arrival.

    Thanks in advance.

I think you get one month but if she wants to come April then put that date on the visa application

Put the date you would like her to arrive in the uk on the application form. It can take anything from one week to three months for the visa to be approved. Visa starts from date you request on form, not entry to uk. If you don't put a date it will start from when they grant the visa. She is not allowed to take more than 90 days holiday each year with a settlement visa so whatever time it takes from the day approves to when she comes to uk will count as holiday days.

Don't forget that she has to collect her Biometric Residence permit within 30 days of the vignette in her passport from your nominated post office or sponsor which ever you chose o the application. https://www.gov.uk/government/upload..._July_2016.pdf and https://www.gov.uk/biometric-residence-permits/collect
