Not to take anything away from the boys and their coach that have been given citizenship but it seems amazing that this can be done when thousands of people have been waiting for years.

Stateless people have no rights and no access to government medical care - they have to rely on charities for assistance when they fall ill. Stateless children are not entitled to education either although I believe many of the schools in the northern provinces allow them in regardless.

I'm glad that 'coach' has been rewarded and not left out because some, more so Westerners, blame him for the group getting into their serious predicament.

It reminds me of Japanese culture where they often reward failure; by acknowledging those who try to do a good cause or put themselves in a position of risk but who come to a untimely end without fulfilling their objective. Many statues are of warriors who fought for what they believed in.

Also the coach probably played the biggest part in saving the youngsters lives until help arrived, when found they were all sitting quietly conserving their energy.

I didn't realise so many in Thailand were stateless, I've heard about guys in Vietnam driving taxis who are stateless because of the side they fought on during the Vietnam war.

I'm sure i read somewhere that the government wanted the boys to be left alone by the media and for them to get on with their normal life. I'm not knocking it, good luck to them.

I haven't watched it yet. Seeing big Ib there will blow their minds. I can't stand Ellen or her show. Maybe it's the twang in her voice or just the performing seals she turns the kids into. Nevertheless, I hope the boys have a great time there.

    Love Meldrew.
