Unhappy Thaddeus – the teasing Li’l Devil

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the death of one of Thailand-UK’s most popular and teasingly mischievous characters. Thaddeus was one of those characters who enjoyed a laugh, he liked to tease and bait, he lived up to his Li’l Devil avatar and he certainly gave the T-UK Moderators a lot of work

Thad was very active in the forums from early 2003, in fact it was because of him that I joined Thailand-UK – initially to wind him up, and because he had mentioned some people were having visa issues and needed advice.

Colin was diminutive in stature, but he certainly made up for it with his biting wit and sarcasm. He loved winding people up, especially those who tried to put others down. He certainly lived up to that Avatar! For many years Colin and I would go to our local boozer, every Friday we would head out, put the world to rights and have a good laugh. He often joined us in our box at the rugby (St Helens RLFC) for a few beers … and occasionally he’d even get a round in

I met Colin when in my early twenties, he was a tech wizard and quite a decent keyboardist, he played in a number of bands in his twenties and early thirties. Colin fell in love with Thailand after he visited with a few of his work friends in the late 90s, he became close to one particular girl. He decided that he intended to retire to Thailand as soon as that was practically possible. In 2005 he married his girlfriend in Buriram, sold his home in the UK and built a place in Buriram.

Thaddeus had been unwell for a number of months, he was taken to hospital about 12 days ago and was put on life support. Given his prognosis the doctors decided to switch off his life support just after midnight local time on 18 September. He passed away almost immediately.

Colin had a traditional Isan Buddhist funeral and cremation this morning attended by his wife. Colin had just turned 58 when he died.

I’ll miss you my little friend, rest in peace

Yes sorry you've lost a friend Tobias. I only knew 'Thaddeus' as a poster here, I always enjoyed reading his posts and asked a member recently where he was.

Condolences to his family and friends.

Bad news. 58 is too young.

Just looking back through some of his posts now. He had some cracking retorts. E.g. https://thailand-uk.com/forums/showt...614#post256614

I had the immense pleasure of meeting Thad and this has really brought a tear to my eye.

RIP Thad, now go and have some fun with Roly
