You need to check this with the airline - and get it in writing if they say its OK. Your wife is a Thai citizen and as such she will not have a problem entering Thailand - her problems, if any, will come at check in with the Airline.

As I say, its the airline that she will have a problem with if anyone. Check with them but as you have a long time until you fly, probably better to renew her passport at the Thai Embassy in London and save yourself any potential hassle.

If you were flying direct from London to Bangkok, it would be no problem. It's the ME stopover that could be an issue.
If you're offended by any assistance I give, it says far more about you than it does me.

    Do you mean hassle?

Why not fly to Sydney with a long stopover in Bangkok and apply for it then?

We went to London a few weeks ago and i did post something about the building works at the Embassy on the forum.
The process was simple and my wife and son had their new passports after 4 weeks delivered to our home.
I would rather have a morning in London and peace of mind than risk travelling without a passport.
Book a train ticket in advance off peak or even fly down to Heathrow as the Tube stops within 10 mins walk to the Embassy from Gloucester road direct from the airport on the Piccadilly line.

This year I queried they expired passport problem with the Thai consulate in Hull. They replied with what has already been said, that it is down to the airline, they did hint that Thai Airways being the national airline would be more accommodating. However we decided not to risk it and renewed the passport in London which was quick and efficient.

cheers guys looks like a trip to London this spring .
Unless we nip and see the local monk sometimes they have reps that come and collect the passports as hes only 5 mins away we will try this route first .
If no joy then London it is (i hate going to London )
ps yes the virgin train does it in a little over 2 hrs but add the baggage from home to home by the time that has took i could have probably flown most of the way to Bkk .

We renewed my wifes a couple of years ago. It was going to be a "hassle" for us too as we had to travel down from Sunderland. In the end we decided to make a short break of it and stayed down for a couple of days. It was pretty simple at the Embassy, just lots of waiting around as you would expect.

Like you say, worth seeing if the Embassy have one of their "tours" scheduled for your area. I know they've been up to Newcastle at times which certainly would have helped us if the timing was right

We flew with emirates last year and when i filled in the passenger details online, a warning message appeared that my wife's passport had less than six months on it and couldn't be used for the trip. I phoned emirates told them about the message, and they said because she is Thai and flying to Bangkok then she's OK. I was still i little worried about going through Dubai so i asked for a conformation email, and they said no need even if your wife's passport was expired she would still be OK.

everything was fine and she renewed her passport in Thailand which took less than one week.

Had much the same experience as Elad with Emirates, except that we didn't renew her passport in Thailand and returned to the UK with less than the 6 months minimum validity.
When checking in at Suvarnabhumi we were taken to a little office and advised that Emirates were willing to fly her but warned that she may be refused entry. Immigration at Newcastle never even queried it

Train prices are stupid and so are flights so i drive missing the congestion charge by arriving before 7,00am on a Friday park at the apartment and then leave Sunday .
Honestly just under £200 on train no wonder there is that many cars on the road, PRIVATE COMPANY'S YEAH do not give a toss hope your island in the west indies gets swamped this year Branson and your call center in the Philippines. and your rocket doesn't take off .

Arriving on a Friday? Have you checked that the passport can be renewed and collected on the same day?

So a water melon @ £2.69 from Tesco and a bottle of wine £8.00 solved this problem .
But the weekend went next sunday i shall go visit the monks and hopefully we will get the mobile consular coming this year .
I will update later this week for anyone that is interested i see a thread has already started with them going to Scotland and wales

Sorry just realised that many others have suggested same.

Why not renew her passport here at the Thai embassy then you will have no issues at all.
