Smile Thai tv/ options in the UK

Hi all, At long last my wife’s settlement visa has been accepted and she is joining me next week. ????????????. I was wondering what applications there are for watching Thai TV and movies here in the UK?I’m not really into TV and not really looked into it but wondered if there was a stick that can be used to view Thai stuff. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. Colin

    Congratulations on the visa

My wife uses malimar.tv on her laptop. It is a paid service but not expensive for the hours of entertainment she gets using it. It has all the latest episodes of soaps as well as movies etc. I also installed it on my amazon firestick but she prefers the laptop version.

There is an abundance of stuff you can get free on youtube but the above just puts it all in one place where she can find what she wants straight away

    Highly recommend it

My mate had someone install an app called mobdro tv onto their Amazon fire stick. It has about 20 Thai channels, my Mrs has it now but she just watches it through her android.

With the Fire stick I wanted to ask is that the normal one that Amazon sells and then you downloaded Malimar.tv on the stick? Is that difficult?

    Hi Colin
Sorry, should have said Amazon Fire Stick, forgot there was several copies out there using a very similar name.
The new Amazon Fire Stick is brilliant, you can push audio button and say "mute TV" and it does exactly that OR you can just push the bloody mute button haha. I think it is designed to work with all the other Amazon voice activated things but a pointless feature as a standalone
Anyway, I digress, yes it is the Amazon version and is very easy to install. You simply log into your amazon account on your laptop / tablet / phone etc and download it to your stick. Of course your firestick has to be registered to your account.
There was something else I had to do in the settings on the stick, something about allowing 3rd party apps, but all very simple

    Should have added.
Malimar TV does have a lot of free content, but mainly older soaps etc. For the up to date episodes you need to subscribe.
Malimar TV subscription is $7.99 dollars per month, not sure what that is currently in £

we used to use a subscription service but haven't for years. It was dootv but don't think its available anymore.

There are some Thai dramas & movies on Netflix

Also we have a Nowtv box which has the Youtube app. My wife finds a Thai tv show on Youtube and then "sends" it to the TV via the app on her phone so she can watch it through the TV

My wife just uses YouTube. Most of the Thai soaps are available on there a couple of hours after they’ve aired in Thailand
