We are pleased to announce that Fon has been granted her ILR at long last!

It has been a long and stressful wait (see topic in visa section)- but now it's full steam ahead for our trip to Thailand 9th April for Songkran!

The visa was stamped 27th Feb - two days after I complained and the exact same day my MP contacted the UKBA on our behalf! Well done Tim Farron - not bad for a LibDem!

Thanks to all on the forum who have provided help and advice - and especially John for providing the link to the UK resident forum which was a great source of comfort and information.

    British citizenship the next step!

    Nick and Fon

Nick and Fon, congratulations. Glad it worked out, but then, why not?

Glad you found the UKResident board helpful. As you will have seen, lots of very unhappy people posting there. But the trend I have detected recently is that time from postal application to receipt of visa is now starting to come down a bit, although still unreasonably long.

The UKBA website continues to tell lies about the length of time visa processing will take. For example, looking at this UKBA webpage, no way are anything like 70% of postal applications dealt with within 20 working days.

Nick & Fon...congrats on your ILR success!

I have been reading your recent posts with great interest as my wife and I are in exactly the same predicament as you were.

We should be flying to LOS on 10th Apr for Songkran but are still waiting for the ILR to come back.

We sent my wifes application off on 9th Dec and got the acknowledgement back on 11th Dec. I am beginning to get anxious now as looking at the current waiting times we may not get it back in time. I'm looking at going down the contacting my MP route to try and hurry things up. Could you possibly PM me a copy of the letter you sent as it obviously did the trick perfectly?

    Thanks
