Very recently purchased a new car.. and was asked by the dealer was the car to be registered in my name. Apparently in her opinion it could be, because l was paying cash.

    Regards

We paid cash for ours too but they weren't interested in putting it in my name as I did not have a licence or proof of living here/yellow book at the time, although when I get my bike after the house is finished I will be putting that in my name

Update: went to Dept of Land Transport Div 3 today (Prah Khanong-BKK) n/r Bang Chak BTS.
Renewed Bike and Car Licence. needed a medical cert, 2 photocopies of (yellow) house registration, 2 photocopies of Thai ID card (pink) ... had to participate in eye co-ordination, emergency stop and another eye test IE lights can change at the side of your head, red , green and yellow, I got a public warning for repeated amber, need to say yellow, then watched an hour long video on how to drive politely with English subtitles, new licence looks slightly different and has my BKK address on the back this time (did not have last time) and Thai ID on front. They just used 5 years from last expiry, which was a week ago.
