    Default LITUK test

On the LITUK Gov.uk website it states that proof of the candidate's postcode must be provided by the candidate which must not be older than 3 months before the date of the test. Can anyone tell me what they have used for this? The only thing I can think of is to order a bank statement for my wife's bank account and hope they put today's date on the statement rather than one when it was issued..

Are you able to provide a link to the instruction?

Sorry..an unnecessary post..I explored the LITUK website a little more and they state proof of postcode is acceptable by the following..bank statements or credit card statements, council tax statements, utility bills,or home office letter.

We just went into the bank and asked them to print and stamp a statement. The stamp they used had today's date on it Halifax

I’m not convinced that will be acceptable, I suspect the proof required is to provide evidence of residency. If that is the case they will be expecting a document that has been posted to the address in question.

They allowed her in with it in Preston and Leeds test centres. My Mrs did say the receptionists in both places didn't seem to care about her papers. The one in Preston didn't even check her passport or brp!

That is why I asked for a link earlier, so I could find the relevant guidance/rules. I don't like to guess when it comes to these matters so when in doubt I always err on the side of caution.

I think I've found the correct website about the mechanics of the LitUK Test, here is what is required:

What to bring to your test
You must bring the same ID that you used to book the test.

You must also bring proof of your address that has your name and postcode on it. It must be dated within 3 months of the day of your test. This can be a:

    • gas, electricity or water bill - the original document, not a photocopy
    • Council Tax bill - the original document, not a photocopy
    • letter from the Home Office with your name and address on it
    • UK photocard driving licence
    • bank or credit card statement

You can use a bank statement you’ve received in the post or one printed at your bank branch or from your online account. If you use a printed statement, it must be stamped by your bank with:

    • an ink stamp (if you printed it from your online account)
    • an ink or electronic stamp (if the bank printed it for you)

My wife just used her credit card statement. From what I understood, it was used as proof that you live local (ish) to the test centre you are using. When booking I entered our postcode and we were offered the choice of Newcastle, Preston and Leeds
