Done my TM30 yesterday in khon kaen immigration, gf came with me we had all the documents ready, but the immigration officer took photocopy of my passport and my TM6 landing card (or the half that the immigration officer at the airport hands back with your passport) it took an hour to get my passport back and the receipts of notification of filing a TM30 it seemed to just drag on we only had two people in front of us, even the gf said the immigration officers just seem to be sour faced and taking their time just for the hell of it. The gf is now doing the next TM30 we do online...god knows what it will be like when I do my extension of my non immigrant OA visa in a few years....apparently the khon kaen immigration office is moving to a new building near nam phong in the next two years.

Down here when we do our 90 day reporting we do not fill in any forms, or do any copies. Just hand over our passport, they update their computer, put in a slip telling you to come back in another 90 days and Robert’s your dad’s (or mum’s) brother, job done.

I’ve done quite a lot of travel to other provinces this year, always staying in hotels and never had a problem when I return. I do always use my Thai driving licence though for ID with the airlines and hotels, which does still have my passport number on.

Having said all of that the head honcho at Phuket Immigration has gone on the record with the local rag to say we need to report any time we stay in another province, even if just for one night.

As stated above I’ve just downloaded Immigration App and will try it for my 90 days report next month. I’m really interested to see if it works!

NB. I do always have my passport with me just in case and have been pulled out of a queue by Immigration Police at Dom Muang before wanting to see it.

I have read the same / similar in Phuket News.
I had bought a 100 baht air ticket to Phuket (AirAsia super-sale) for next month, but cannot be bothered with the two lots of reporting (TM 28) especially in BKK (CIC) as it can be a all day job.
I have only 6 provinces that I have never traveled around including Kampeng Phet and Tak in the North, was thinking Xmas, with NY in Phetchabun but having second thoughts, be OK in Tak @ Mae Sot as would go over into Myanmar and return to set off next 90 days.
Glad I traveled around TH before this enforcement.

Mrs had to go to BKK, so as I was going to the MOTO GP in Buriram she stayed on a few days and we came to Surin together, next day went to the local Police Station for TM 30 and TM 28, which is just a few minutes from her place, we had already written both out as we were expecting a " no can do " and thats how it turned out. Everyone was really nice and explained that in Surin they want everyone who stays regularly to be able to have the TM 30 done online, but would mean a trip to Surin immigration office to have it set up and get a password, they contacted Surin immigration and let Mrs have a chinwag with them, it was deiced rather than have an elderly person set up online access (mother-in-law) be better if my sister-in-law who is a teacher and lives with MIL do it, so SIL and Mrs set up power of attorney so Mrs could set it up on behave of SIL which in turn would mean two other foreign brother-in-laws can be registered with TM 30 online if necessary.
Mrs also asked Surin immigration about TM 28 to which they indicated they are not bothered about that, but she explained BKK (CIC) are, to which the IO asked what rank was the officer at BKK (CIC) who told her about this.
Anyway next day we had a trip down to Surin immigration, which is Not in Surin City but at Kap Choeng, not too far from the Chong Chom border crossing with Cambodia, everything was set up for registering TM 30 online, I was registered straight away for my current visit, this was done in the crime suppression unit, to which I just studied the last 3 years worth of immigration arrests and deportations which were all written in English on big boards while they sorted everything out (2017 was a busy year for them ) Then the issue of TM 28, to which they said this is an old form and im already registered in Surin and they know where I am, but filled the receipt for me because of BKK (CIC)
In conclusion seams BKK (CIC) are sticklers for TM 28 to the letter of the law, but other provinces less so.
PS Mrs called BKK (CIC) last week to complain about their ridiculous system.
PS PS had a visit to the border Surin / Cambodia as I have still not given up on the idea of taking the motor over into Cambodia, although the other half is dis-interested.

Yet another Update, another day another change ?
We came back to BKK from Surin last week as I had bought tickets to take Mrs to see Jose Carreras warbling at the Thailand Cultural Centre, so we arrived Tuesday in BKK , but too late to visit immigration for my TM 28, Mrs had phoned the week before to make sure this was still the case, was told yes, then I got a text to say need to be at the Cultural Centre before 6:30 pm as some of the Royal Family will be attending, turned out to be the King and Queen, so we decided not to go the day of the show to immigration because if it turned out to be a all day job like the last visit could miss the 6:30 pm deadline, plus Mrs can do the TM 30 on her phone App and I have 48 hrs for the TM 28, we would go Thursday, told Mrs just put Thursdays date for the TM 30, so Thursday off we went early to Chaengwattana , went through the normal rigmarole of queuing up to get a ticket (just to get in the department) then a ticket when inside for the service we want IE my TM 28. luckily there was only 50 odd people in front of me this time, so said to Mrs register me on the App for the TM 30. so she tried but it would nt work, thought maybe a poor internet signal, so off she went outside to do it, still would nt work, so off she went to the internet and App desk turns out there is a new phone App she has to download, but she could nt get it to download in immigration...
By this time was my turn, off I went sat down got passport out TM 28 receipt from Surin,TM 28 form all written out, one lady asked what I wanted to do today? " I have come to hand in my TM 28 as I have been to Surin and now back in BKK" two ladies just looked at each other, for a brief moment I thought I had gone to the wrong desk, then one asked are you at the same address in BKK, "yes" then asked does your wife use online to register me? " yes shes downloading the new App now " then was told things have changed and I now do not need to file a TM 28 on returning to BKK, now only need get a receipt if I go outside BKK for more than 24 hrs, and with that the lady at the desk folded everything into my passport and was given to me
I was now a bit perplexed by this, I thought they must think im on the exempt list, anyway we came back, Mrs reset some settings on her phone and was able to download the new App and register me, she was away at the weekend but back Sunday night, she phoned immigration to double check everything on Monday, and it was correct, I dont need file a TM 28 anymore coming back to BKK from another province, but definitely need a receipt from another province, so Mrs asked what questions do I have, so I asked her to ask them what can I do if the other province does not want to deal with TM 28, IE Surin I am registered online there for TM 30, so dont need to visit them in Surin, there not interested in TM 28 what do I do ? the answer was I need a receipt, I asked to ask, what happens if they wont give me a receipt, again the answer was, BKK need to see one, so for the final time I asked her to ask that I cant force Surin immigration to give me a receipt so what do I do ? predictably the reply was, you have to get one. And that concludes this episode of "Ask Immigration"

PS there is now a big new notice of 90 reporting that can be done online on display, not sure if a new App or updated their site.

Just to update my TM30 process, done my TM30 the day after I arrived in Thailand, done the reporting at the khon kaen immigrant office (see my post above to see how that went), anyway to continue, me and the gf stayed in a hotel on the night of the 25th October as there was a music festival in the temple near her house, so when we checked in the hotel scanned my passport so they could do their TM30 to report me staying there, I said to the gf that when we got home on Saturday afternoon that she would then have to report me as staying at her house by going on line and doing another TM30 and that she had 24 hours to do it, so approximately midday on Sunday, but she never done it and instead went to the immigration office in khon kaen with her friend from work on Monday afternoon i expected her to get a fine for late reporting, but she got the reporting done and the TM30 receipt stamped and no fine, she said she was in and out in 5 minutes and all good humoured no problems.....i think this shows that every immigration office is going to apply the rules as they see fit. The gf went to the immigration office in person because she wanted to ask the IO what was needed for my application to extend my visa by 30 days, she was told what was needed and I think we are going on Friday to do this, let's see how that goes!
    many thanks
