Default Sending a parcel from the UK to Laos

I thought it might be nice to send the GF a parcel over for christmas. she lives out in the sticks and hasn't got a regular address and post code.
She has made enquiries and the main shop in the village the owner said they receive all of the mail so I would need to send it to her village where upon it would be given to the shop.I would need to attach the GF phone number and she would then be contacted on its arrival and have to pay 150 baht.
    Nothings easy in Laos lol

Its the same in the UK. Couriers do charge extra to remote and off shore postcode codes in the UK. At one time I used to ship a number of goods to N,Ireland through Parcel Force as they had a flat rate for the UK mainland and N,Ireland, not anymore.

When I send out goods, they must be signed for. If you were unable to be in due to work then the goods would not be left, unless I was authorized by the buyer that it was okay to leave in a safe place or with a neighbour. Then, there are other options, drop offs and collections at drop off lockers, fuel station's and newsagents etc etc. It was possible on ebay at one time to drop off at a local Argos store to be delivered to the recipients local Argos store for collection.

Cheers Greg I hear what your saying as I too sell on Ebay ect.
It was the £150 baht that got me as that's half a days wage for a labourer.
