Wow, don't know how you earn a living but you need to contact the W.H.O and the likes, 5 weeks ago it was in it's infancy with France being the only European country to have identified any cases.

David. nobody can tell you how to act when children are involved and I understand your situation entirely.

That said, IF the virus is less active in hot weather and IF young children aren't in the danger bracket the chances are the countries such as China, SK, Thailand and others that were the first to be highlighted in the news are probably the safer options as this situation worsens.

I'll give you an example. I'm in Kalasin now. A lady picked my son up yesterday, as Thais do, and a minute later she tells us she's bored of living in Phuket due to the Chinese. She returned Sunday. I don't need to say how quickly my wife grabbed our son....

Absolutely, here we are sharing and discussing the large amount, and often confusing, information that is being widely shared regarding COVID-19.

Given the serious nature of this topic I think it is important that we try to focus on facts, and try to dispel or highlight any misinformation.

Obviously each person must make their own assessment of the risks if they are considering travel, consult with medical professionals where appropriate and then make their own decisions on whether or not to travel.

Each person's situation and tolerance for risk is different, and whatever decision an individual makes is the right one for that individual.

Heard today that a Thai man went to hospital with his wife because he was ill and told them that he had not travelled anywhere unsafe. He was in the hospital a few days and the tests showed he had the coronavirus and then they found out he had just come back from Japan. They have had to send home 30 medical staff. Not a good thing to hide this i think !

I wonder if that was the new case for Thailand that was declared yesterday?

It really is foolish for people to mislead health professionals in this way, it is so unfair on everyone he comes in to contact with.

Caller raised this on number 98. Keep up old boy.

Seriously though, there is so much panic being deliberately whipped up in the media that it's no wonder stories such as these go unnoticed. They seem to be relishing in fear mongering. The BBC have a "LIVE feed on what's happening worldwide. What they fail to do is report on a single case of the tens of thousands who have recovered or those who are helping. It's all leading to them hoping a pandemic will be called.

The man involved should be singled out and punished for what he's done (the Thai guy not Caller).

Mother in law is coming from Thailand on Friday with Eva air... I’m becoming increasingly concerned about her visit. I’m sure it will be fine but it seems the virus has exploded again in the last week.

I've got a hunch that this virus will be transmitted by Mosquitoes.

Spooky, I was reading an article on this very subject this evening! It said there is no evidence whatsoever that any coronavirus is spread by mosquito bite.

Here is a link to an article (not sure how much of an expert the writer is though): “Coronavirus Virus: Do Mosquitoes Spread It? Mosquito expert Stan Cope (AP&G) wrote an information paper on coronavirus and mosquitoes.” https://www.pctonline.com/article/co...squitoes-cope/

Just cancelled two dinners out with family and friends here in Bangkok. None of the Thai's we know want to eat out and are buying from the supermarket and eating at home. There is talk here today of China reopening some international flights soon as the new cases are going down in China but looking today they seem to have had another 400+ cases ? Has anybody else heard about this, maybe it is fake news ?

I'd be very surprised if true, certainly not in the near future. There is a general unwillingness to travel for some and for the reasons alluded to by DippyChippy (money!) airlines will not want to fly empty/half-empty aircraft to destinations people do not wish to travel to.

You will find airlines around the world may reduce capacity to many areas not because of the virus specifically but because of demand. With respect to China, most airlines have completely stopped flying there, and for good reason. I think it is likely to be quite sometime before we see flights to/from mainland China being reinstated.

I see over the last couple of days Thailand have reported a further 2 cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases to 42.

It is worth noting that there have been no dearths reported from COVID-19 in Thailand, and of those 42 cases 28 have fully recovered. Only 2 of those affected have been declared to be in a 'serious or critical' condition. As of today, there are just 14 known 'active' cases in Thailand.

I have just come back from a meal out in Thonglor with the other half and her niece and the restaurant was very busy. Everywhere was very busy, both bars and restaurants. It's Saturday night in downtown Bkk and Thonglor is a popular nightlife area. No evidence of any change in behaviour here.
