What evidence do you have that the information on that link is “lies”? Do you have any evidence to support your other assertions?

People in Laos are not mobile and stay in villages
    Few commute to work

In the UK people travel more and are more likely to go to the free NHS doctors

We have 65 million people in a smallish area so its going to spread and there is zero we can do about it except washing hands and of course people will die.

    Panic will not help anyone.

Samsung you are behaving like a little child.

What do the following countries have in common.

    Thailand
    Malaysia
    Indonsesia
    Laos
    Cambodia
    Myanmar
    Singapore

The answer as to why they have a low number of cases and have managed to contain the virus, maybe staring you in the face. Worked it out yet ?

If 80% of cases exhibit mild symptoms how would the infected person know that had coronavirus and not an ordinary cold? Throw in that potential 80% who may have it and are unaffected, the death rate would plummet percentage wise.

Way too much speculation and media hype. It's Brexit all over again. Switch off the media and get on with your life!

I was thinking more about the heat. There's a school of thought that thinks the virus is behaving a lot like influenza. It thrives in cold but doesn't survive long outside the body in hot weather. Making it harder to transmit.

I personally struggle to believe the low rates of infection is SE Asia. Most are under dictatorships and Thailand is a quasi-dictatorship, which is now distrusted at levels never seen before, if only because the incompetence and lies of it's Government is being displayed daily.

I mean, in Cambodia, who would dare to cross Hun Sen? If he says they don't have Covid-19, then it's case closed.

No, I do not believe a single word of what you have posted today. Where is your evidence? Where are you getting this misinformation?

I think the numbers are lower simply because Europe and America have differing views on the virus. I can imagine sympathy and care being afforded in the UK but in Asia there's an anger and resentment towards people who have it therefore they don't want to have the tests out of fear and financial reprisals. At my outlaw's beer factory one worker dropped a crate on his foot which has crushed it to bits. He's off work without pay until it heels and the beer company sponsors English football. One of the admin team is HIV positive and has been for years. She doesn't go near the food or offerings. Imagine how a Thai company would treat an employee if they had it. Just my outlook so please don't ask for evidence.

I also believe the numbers are being crushed which is why I raised the point about the Dengue patient. By admission I am no medical expert but it seemed unclear to me what was to blame. The report read the virus impacted his death but also attributed Dengue as a possible cause. Again, to the average Joe on the street it certainly wasn't made clear that he'd died of the virus. Add this to Thailand's way of escaping blame for anything that can scare off tourists and I firmly believe they too may well be trying to keep the numbers hidden.

I have no evidence simply the opinion of a person who would not be surprised to see a cover-up in place.

As for Samsung's rants, they may be off the wall and appear with the CAPS LOCK on to have Alf Garnett joining T-UK but by God it keeps me entertained. However, whilst I think there is a point to be made Samsung, I think social media and tourism, especially in Laos and Cambodia, wouldn't allow for them to blanket this. I think that some of the travelers that have gone through these countries will then go on to test positive but connecting it to the country of origin will be impossible.

On another note, with so many people being advised not to travel will the Visa runs be stopped and immigration kept in-house? I know the likes of myself can get a 30 day extension IF I travel to the embassy and get proof of my situation. Speaking with colleagues earlier this is proving to be impossible so they are all going to do visa runs next week which contradicts both Thailand's and every other nation's advice regarding non-essential travel.

Hey guys. I am about to go to sleep in my very clean condo. Many people (70 per cent i think) are wearing masks in th street and in supermarkets and in the communal area in condos / apartments. Tests are taking place for people in and out of condos and everybody is happy with this. Sanitisers are available for free in many locations, ie condos, supermarkets, gyms, any major area. Many pools closed. People when they are walking or climbing stairs I see are not holding rails and are keeping their distance from others. You go to a restaurant and you clean your hands and utensils and plates and nobody is insulted as it is just common sense. The Thai's are working together thanks to the King and the government making people aware no matter what others may say about them. I am hoping that this virus fades in the coming months but if we all take our lessons from thailand then i think we are in with a chance

Also those who are seeking to profit with inflated prices.

We have recieved an email from ebay stating the following.

Considering the global developments associated with Covid-19 (Coronavirus) and our dedication to delivering a safe and trusted marketplace, we would like to remind you of eBay’s Listing Policies:
Health claims and misuse of keywords: titles and item descriptions containing health claims and misusing terms such as "Coronavirus", "Covid-19", ‘Virus”, "epidemic" are prohibited.
Prices inflated above prevailing market value: listings that attempt to profit from tragedies and disasters (such as the Coronavirus outbreak) are prohibited.
Laws and Regulations: we recognise this is a fast changing situation. We advise sellers to always check local laws and regulations when listing. We will continue to monitor the situation globally and provide further updates as necessary.

When you see how much hand sanitizer is going for and how frequently sellers are revising listings, you get the feeling ebay is turning a blind eye.

Correct. I can only speak for thailand as i am hee that everybody is taking the virus seriously and responsibly and taking the correct precautions including wearing masks. There is no panic they just listen to advice and follow it. There are free sanitizers in many places as well.

Just been catching up on the news this morning. 9.00 am in Thailand. I see the fact that they let Milan passengers walk straight through the airport is now common news. I am shocked to see how little the UK has done to prepare for the inevitable arrival of this virus. It is embarrassing for me here in Thailand to see that the UK is only just stepping up it's vigilance. It is easy to say that if you are fit you will be okay and do not worry, there are millions of people in the UK who are not fit or are over 80. We are supposed to learn lessons from history, this time the history is right now and the UK has ignored the warnings and the good precedence set by the countries that are keeping this at bay. Regardless of the future now the government should be ashamed. I have managed to explain to my girlfriend the meaning of closing the barn door after the horse 'has bolted'. She has a simpler phrase 'Too late'. Another phrase that i have invented is 'Where is the would be Winston Churchill, Mr, Boris Johnson ???

I don't think Thailand would hide this information from the people, they are making sure that everybody is on board with making sure it does not spread. Because they were number 2 on the danger list at one point they took action early and have kept it down. The hot weather I am sure as well is a major factor with killing the virus quickly, same as the UK flu virus
