    Default BA Flight cancellations

British Airways have cancelled my mother in laws flight back to Thailand in April. They are inundated with enquiries and cannot answer unless travelling in next 72 hours. Will they re-book automatically and what happens to her Visa if she cannot fly back before expiry date.

    Welcome to Thailand-UK Shihan.

Yes, BA have cancelled all flights to Bangkok until 1 May 2020. You should be able to change the reservation to a date of her choice (on or after 1 May) at no additional cost. There is no rush to call, they are very busy at the moment dealing with those who are trying to get back home.

How was the flight booked? Through ba.com, a travel agent or with an online travel agent such as expedia.com?

Just so you are aware of BA policy regarding rebooking affected flights, in case you booked through an agency who might get confused

Thank you very much, BA took air fare from my account so I assume that they will re-book when they start flying again

Yes, because they cancelled the flight, you will be allowed to rebook. The current policy is a free of charge re-booking on to any of their flights before 1 August.

If you booked direct with BA (by phone or ba.com) you should call BA to make the changes, their disruption telephone number is 0800 727 800.

If you booked using a travel agent or on another website (expedia, netflights etc) then you need to contact them and not BA.
