And yet, and yet.....Thai Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) World reported on the 13th that 90 people had tested positive in state quarantine. Has that been added to stats? The new cases are generally well explained now, so not sure they have? They then went on to say that a total of 34,444 tests have been conducted to date.

    Who to believe?

The Thai figures are a bit of an enigma. The confirmed infections appear only to represent those who tested positive and were admitted to hospital.

It does make international comparisons tricky because of how different countries manage and report things.

I note yesterday it was reported that there are now at least 300,000 confirmed COVID-19 related deaths worldwide. We are fast approaching 5 million confirmed (by test) cases in the worldwide population. The true figure of course for both will be significantly higher.

Thailand, on its evidence, appears to be making good progress. To show how the UK is managing here are a couple of graphs from Cabinet Office Briefing Room:

This first one shows the number of people who have been admitted to UK hospitals and who tested positive for COVID-19. As can be seen, the rate of COVOD-19 admissions has dropped drastically nationwide since the lockdown began.

The next graph shows the trend of UK deaths (in all settings) where there has been a positive COVID-19 test. The yellow line shows the rolling 7 day (mean) average. Thankfully, we can see a definite downward trajectory.

Today's figures for are below. Both the UK and Thai technical gremlins have resolved and the cumulative figures below include the data missing from yesterday's update.

The are now over 5,000,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases worldwide with the USA accounting for over 1,500,000 and the UK approaching 250,000. Thailand reports just one new case today, and again no new COVID-19 related deaths. Thailand's COVID-19 hospital patients have now dropped below 100.

Today the WHO reported the largest daily count of new infections worldwide with USA, Russia, Brazil and Saudi Arabia (oddly) making up the large majority. With all the easing of restrictions going on it shows there is still a long way to go sadly.

Here are a few graphs from the Cabinet Office Briefing Room. Despite the significant increase in UK testng the COVID-19 infection rate continues to fall.

The data provides further positive news with both COVID-19 related deaths and hospital admissions showing a definite fall. The data showing the lockdown has been doing its job.

Just been going through this thread as it seems that Thailand have been stuck on 54/56 deaths for a very long time.....however I went back to the 50 mark which was on 23rd April!! 6 deaths in the last month...….this is truly miraculous....now I'm not in Thailand to witness human behavior at first hand, but this means that everyone in Thailand is playing the game and doing what they are told....and for this Thailand I applaud you
