Default Thai wife has had uk bank account closed with no explanation

My Thai wife has been living and working in the UK with me on a settlement visa for 1 year, we have managed to save up £20k in her Metro bank account as we are planning on using savings for her next stage of settlement visa. Metro out of the blue have just closed her account and now we are stuck trying to find a bank that will offer her an account.

Has anyone else had similar problems with their Thai wife and any advice of where she can get a basic account

Not sure how they work as haven't looked into it, but would a Transferwise account work like a current account ?

Get her a monzo account. Super easy to set up and really good for managing your money

If you're offended by any assistance I give, it says far more about you than it does me.

Nationwide were very good getting Nok set up when she first arrived.

Seems odd that they just closed her account, with 20K in it.
A lot of money for them to lose without some very good reason I would have thought.

Very strange. Metro was the bank that gave my wife an account when none of the others would.

My wife has opened an account with Santander and it looks like with no problems. She also has a join account with Nationwide and they have also given her a loan account all without me
