There's too much talk and not enough chat. - Alan Partridge
An excellent movie, based on a true story. Epic battle scenes, but you get involved with the personal lives of the villagers as well. Very similar in theme to Seven Samurai (or The Magnificent Seven) with a bit of The Alamo as well. As good, if not better, than Suriyothai, and nowhere near as long.
I have wanted a copy of this for a long time, but up until recently it was only available on VCD with no subtitles. Then I saw on eThaiCD that a DVD version was coming out, but no subtitles! Then browsing through HMV the other day I found that it had just been released on DVD in the UK, with subtitles, by Amazon.
The UK edition comes with lots of extras, and is well worth buying.
The DVD Times gives a very good review of this disc.

Ok, I received my region 2 DVD of Bang Rajan today (from Amazon). Once my son had gone to bed, on it went (with subtitles). It was not a hard story to follow when I saw it on VCD originally, but the subtitles do make all the difference.
The new re-release is fantastic. The movie last just short of two hours. It comes with 2 discs, one for the movie the othe contains all the extras. The audio is 5.1 or DTS. The action is excellent as is the portrayal of daily life in the village. The movie can also be watched with English dubbing.
Happy viewing
Ally.

It's quite interesting, A Guy from this movie lives bellow me and runs his Thai Boxing Gym just under my apartment. He said he can teach me for free if i want since we live in the same building whenever he has no class in which is pretty cool.
