Just what we need. The protective coating on the aliminium one we've had for years has come off and I'm sure the rice has a subtle taste of aliminium! Stainless steel is defintely the way to go!

    hi wolfy,
    just a thought,
being stainless steel would the exterior get extremly hot when cooking the rice, making it not very suitable for elderly people.
but for £7 seems like a bargain.

Not sure about that Scoot. It didn't say anything on the box about being unsuitable for old folks but best check with Asda's health and Safety department.()

Having said that it's only seven quid so should your old folks get burnt you could return it. Worth a try. Keep your receipt.

    cheers wolfysteve,

i bought a cookworks rice cooker from argos a while ago,
special offer £10 reduced from £20 tis plastic outside so does'nt get hot,
keeps the rice nice and warm after cooking perfect rice every time mate,
but for value, asda's beat it hands down if it sings and dances.
    i love bargains.

    Default Cheap Rice Cooker

[Admin Edit: Thread below merged with existing thread above]

Asda have a £18.97 Rice Cooker with 63% off so it is now £7

This offer has just come up on Offer of the Day but I notice it says it was found 2 weeks ago. May still be worth having a look for it.

Didn't Wolfy post this a few weeks ago? I called in ASDA on Sunday afternoon and saw a pile of these things on the shelf ... ... in the DVD section!

Argos have a rice cooker on offer at the moment too. It's not as cheap as the Asda cooker, but it's a decent one nontheless.
We got one a fortnight ago and it's working (and cooking) very well at the moment:
